Purpose In accordance with Section Q of the ACTPS Education and Training Directorate (Teaching Staff) Enterprise Agreement 2014-2018 and related Section Q Guidelines: Addressing teacher workload, the School Workload Committee will develop the School Workload Reduction Plan to:
identify tasks, practices and procedures, which may be removed,
reduced and/or reassigned, in order to achieve a sustainable reduction in teacher workload effectively utilise the additional resources made available to the school to facilitate teacher workload reduction monitor and evaluate workload reduction measures to ensure sustainability and fairness.
The School Workload Reduction Plan has three elements:
1. effective use of new resources 2. identification of other measures within the school to reduce teacher workload 3. data collection and evaluation processes.
1. Effective use of new resources
What key administrative tasks can you identify to reduce the workload of teachers to ensure they are able to focus on their core role?
What administrative tasks currently done by teachers should be done
by others? (See Section Q Guidelines for examples.) Do we need to keep doing any of these tasks? Who else should do these tasks? (e.g. school assistants, school leadership, other) What are the priorities for achieving workload reduction for the most number of teachers? How should the new resources be deployed to perform these tasks? Is this the fairest way?
