ADMISSION PROCEDURE

Defence Institute of Advanced Technology (DIAT), Deemed University (DU), contributes


significantly in the sphere of Human Resources Development for the Defence Forces by way of
imparting education and training on Defence Technology to the officers of Armed Forces,
Scientists of the DRDO, Technical Officers of the Ordnance Factory Board, Directorate of
Quality Assurance, Public Sector Undertakings, General Public and friendly foreign countries.
The University conducts M.Tech and Ph.D Programmes and offers a number of short-term
courses

PH.D. PROGRAMME
DIAT offers admission to PhD in the frontier areas of Aerospace Engineering,
Mechanical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Science & Engineering,
Applied Physics, Applied Mathematics, Materials engineering and Applied Chemistry.

ELIGIBILITY:
FULL TIME RESEARCH SCHOLAR CATEGORY (i.e. SCHOLARSHIP CATEGORY)
ELIGIBILITY:
a) 55% marks or equivalent CGPA in M.E./M. Tech. for Ph.D. in Engineering or Master of
Science with 55% marks or equivalent CGPA for Ph.D. in Science. AND GATE Score /
UGC-CSIR NET certificate.
b) M. Tech / M. Phil degree without GATE/NET/SET/CSIR but with one year of research
experience with at least one research publication in peer reviewed journal, for Ph. D.
with fellowship.
c) M. Sc. Degree without GATE/NET/SET/CSIR but with 2 years of research experience with
at least one International journal publication for Ph. D. with fellowship.
Note:1. Candidates who are in the final semester of their PG degree are eligible to apply;
Mark sheet up to the last semester should be produced during interview. Provisional
passing certificate and mark sheet of the final semester are required to be submitted
before commencement of program.
2. Irrespective of the fulfillment of criteria for admission in Ph. D with fellowship
preference will be given to candidates having cleared GATE/NET/SLET examinations

II.

INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL PART TIME RESEARCH SCHOLAR


ELIGIBILITY:
a) 55% marks or equivalent CGPA in M.E./M. Tech. for Ph.D. in Engineering or Master
of Science with 55% marks or equivalent CGPA for Ph.D. in Science with at least two
years of relevant experience. The Candidate is required to submit a Sponsorship and
Work experience certificate from the parent organization.

SELECTION PROCESS:
Admission to Ph.D. Program will be based on the performance in the entrance exam
(written test) conducted by the department concerned followed by personal interview.
