The nativity has placed in the yard at the Delphos Public Library. Will Baby Jesus receive yet another blanket
this year? According to Library Director Kelly Rist, for many years now, someone always makes sure the infant
has a warm blanket shortly after the display makes its appearance. By Monday, Baby Jesus will be wrapped in
a blanket, Rist said. No one knows who does it. Rist said there was an occasion the blanket came up missing
and it was replaced quickly. At the end of the season, the blankets are laundered and given to the Thrift Shop.

On Nov. 20, officers were
sent to the 200 block of West
Third Street to investigate
a possible burglary in progress. Officers arrived and
spoke with the resident who
told officers that a subject
was trying to lift her window.
Officers checked the window
and found that it was secure
and checked the area, failing
to locate any suspicious persons.
On Nov. 21, officers spoke
with a female in the 500 block

an ex-boyfriend in which he
threatened to damage her
property and possibly cause
her harm. Officers advised
the female to contact the police department if the subject
was seen near her residence.
On Sunday, a female contacted the police department
to report that her juvenile son
had left the residence without
permission. The juvenile was
located a short time later by
officers and returned home.
Due to this being an on-going
issue, the report was forwarded to the Van Wert County Juvenile Probation Department
for their review.
On Sunday, an officer on
patrol observed the driver
of a vehicle commit a traffic
offense. The officer initiated
a traffic stop and made contact with the driver, 53-yearold Dennis Fifer of Delphos.
During the investigation of
the violation, it was discov-

I didnt expect us to shoot

Man makes things difficult for opposing
teams. Big Ben wont be as mobile as hes
used to with several injuries hes dealing
with, so I like Hawks.
CLEVELAND: Johnny Football probably should have played his final down with
the Browns. Fortunately, Joe Flacco is done
for the Ravens. Should be a low-scoring
slug-fest and Browns defense is getting
healthier. Give them the slight nod at home.
MINNESOTA: Freeman is out for
Falcons, meaning this balanced offense
wont be so this week. My gut feeling is
since Six Rulers let me down last week, go
with Atlanta. My head says All-Day Peterson
will not be held down like Pack did last
week.
WASHINGTON: Whod have thunk the
Redskins would be in contention for NFC
Least title? Its bad, folks. Even worse is they
could win this battle of hated rivals. Kirk
Cousins is not playing poorly and DeSean
Jackson gives offense a huge lift.
HOUSTON: Saints defense is putrid.
Period. Brees seems to be on his game again
but JJ Watt and Company can at least slow
him down enough for offense to compile lots
of points.

COLLEGE
MICHIGAN: I thought for sure OSU
would win last week and then lose this week,
but they lost, in case anyone forgot. Can I get
lucky enough for them to lose two weeks in
a row? I cant even handle the excitement!
(Editors Note: I can almost see the glee!)
STANFORD: Just feeling Stanford right
now.
FLORIDA STATE: As a Kentucky fan, I
refuse to pick the Gators (EN: Understood!).
OLE MISS: Theyre the better team here.
OKLAHOMA: Oklahoma State let me
down last week.
UCLA: USC also let me down last week.
NFL
NEW ENGLAND: Ive never typed that
before in my life, but without Peyton, I just
dont see it happening (EN: The smile has
left your eyes!).
SEATTLE: At Seattle, Im going with
Seattle.
BALTIMORE: With all the shenanigans
going on in Cleveland, or Austin rather, I like
the Ravens.
ATLANTA: Its cold in Minnesota and
now theyre going to try to play in some
warmer weather. I dont think thats going
to go well.
WASHINGTON: This is a hope pick so
Dallas has a better chance of making it in the
playoffs (EN: I hate to write this but without
Romo, aint gonna happen!).
HOUSTON: Oh, Houston actually started
winning some games since I havent picked
them in a while. Im sure theyll lose now.

JOHN PARENT
Seriously, is this season nearly over? I
cant take much more of this embarrassment
(EN: Both you and me, brother! This season
has been so @%!^@&!).
College:
Michigan- OSU is coming off a dismal
offensive showing, so it figures the Buckeyes
will take it out on Michigan this week, but
Michigan has a strong defense and 10 of
the last 11 Michigan coaches won their first
meeting with OSU.
Notre Dame- The Irish need to win
impressively to make the playoff and I think
they will.
Florida State- This is a coin-flip game,
but if the Noles win and if Florida beats
Alabama next week, the SEC will miss out

-------Minnesota at Atlanta- Winner Atlanta- Look for a better-than-inthe-past defense in Atlanta to help slow down the Vikings offense.
The Falcons have a top young QB and one of the best receiving corps
in the NFL; the only factor to this game is that the Falcons top RB got
hurt last week which could cause them issues.
-------New York Giants at Washington- Winner NY Giants- The Giants
lead the way in a bad division. Washington players are finding excuses to blame their losses to the extent of the officials dont like their
teams name; I mean come on really!! You lose because your bad.
Giants win.
----------New Orleans at Houston- Winner Houston- Houston isnt strong
when it comes to their offense but that defense is a beast at times.
New Orleans is just not having a good year be it due to losing key
players or a defense that gets burnt often and a lot; they are just not
the team they have been.

The Herald - 9
One definition of peace is freedom from anxiety, and it seems that it is becoming increasingly more difficult to be stress-free and at peace with ourselves
in our daily lives. The world is full of anxieties, and if we are only at peace when
things go well, chances are that we may never have real, lasting peace. The
Bible tells us that if we have been put right with God through faith, we have
peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ (Romans 5:1). Everyone goes
through trying times, and the way we handle these situations reflects whether
or not we have the peace that comes from God, because Mans peace is temporary and short-lived. I believe we have all known people who have been at
peace through some very difficult situations. Their love and trust in God seems
to sustain them when they are faced with a crisis, and they believe that God
loves them and will see them through difficult times. Our relationship with our
Heavenly father requires nurturing and love. Developing this relationship will
kindle and sustain a more peaceful existence in our lives.
Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give
I unto you.
K.J.V. John 14:27
Our local churches invite you to join them for their activities and services.
