ABSTRACT

Industrial training is the training of student to work in an industry to learn

working skills, industrial environments and work efficiency before complete their
diploma course. Its also giving a opportunity to the student learn more about
regulation and work procedure in the industry. Most of student the student equipped
theoretically even they do not the way to use all the theories. Use this opportunity to
apply the knowledge in industrial training. By doing practically in the industry
training, student able get overcome the lot of problems that they faced. All these
situations will make the students become more experienced and gallant. They also
can manage the assignment giving to them and also increase their thinking level. I
hope with all exposure about this industrial training I can achieve the goals and
objectives that have been set where it accomplish this course.

3.1 Introduction Of Rubber Tyred Gantry Crane

A Rubber Tyred Gantry Crane (RTG) (also transtainer) is a mobile gantry
crane used in intermodal operations to ground or stack containers. Inbound containers
are stored for future pickup by drayage trucks, and outbound are stored for future
loading on to vessels. RTGs typically straddle multiple lanes, with one lane reserved
for container transfers. Being mobile, RTGs are often powered by Diesel
generator systems (Gensets) of 100 to 600kW. Due to the lack of an electrical grid to
dump energy when containers are being lowered they often have large resistor packs
to rapidly dissipate the energy of a lowering or decelerating container. There is a four
type of RTG cranes :

IMPSA A
IMPSA B
NOELL
ZPMC

18

3.1.1 Disconnect and secure the cable

Disconnect the cable which attach to diesel engine (Genset) of RTG Crane with
marking. Remove all the cable trunk cover with marking and there is three type of
(MCCB) Cable, 24 type of cable attach at junction box and earth-ing cable then
secure the cable from damage by fabrication work.

3.1.2 Laying new cables

After Install new diesel engine (Genset) prepare the new of cables which go to
specific panel with label and according to the length.

3.2 Introduction of IMT Helideck ILED lighting system

Helicopter desk signalization lighting has now taken off into a new direction with the
IMT Circle-H lighting system. Throughout the industry, it is now fully agree and
accepted that the old method of illuminating the takedown(TD)/position marking
(PM) circle and H with flood light results in the common danger problem of creating
the disorientating black hole effect at the being a source of glare to the helicopter
pilots.

3.2.1 Marking and Positioning the circle-H

I.

Measure the helideck diameter to mark center point of helideck and sketch
the circle instruction given by IMT Helideck ILED Circle H lighting system
manual guide. Position the mounting bracket on the sketch circle. Assemble
with the C1 part which given by IMT helideck lighting package to set up
accurate position. Then mark the mounting brackets to power brush the
helideck surface.

Figure 3.10 : Position the mounting brackets on the sketched circle

24

II.

Use the same method to H ILED lighting bracket .position the first mounting
brackets on leg of H by measuring the exact dimension with help of H1 parts
given by IMT helideck lighting package. End with power brush the mounting
brackets surface.

Figure 3.11 : Position the mounting brackets on the sketched H

25

III.

Drill the surface of mounting brackets on Circle-H by using magnetic drill

machine to drill make sure the hole made accurate then use hand taping for
made hole with treads.

26

IV.

Methacrylate Adhesive its a type material in glue form came with IMT
helideck lighting package. Use that glue surround the mouthing brackets and
paste mounting bracket on marked surface of circle H then tied with M6
bolt.(Note : Before paste on surface use primer/conditioner given IMT
lighting package to isolate the surface of mounting bracket)

3.2.2 Installation of IMT helideck Circle-H lighting

Install all the ILED Aquarius light on the mounting brackets while install the ILED
light need to connect the ILED cable with each other ILED light its work as series
circuit. Then tied the ILED Aquarius light with Allen key headed bold nut using
small amount of copper grease on bold nut tread.(Notes: Copper grease help to stop
corrosion, galling and seizure.)

CHAPTER IV
CONCLUSION
The industrial training was a good learning component and beneficial
to students who follow this because this component students can gain
knowledge experience from industry. In addition, students will be able to
know and learn a thing or assignments given by the company to be more
effective. Whatever is taught to help students who have not well skilled in
such matters.

This component also emphasizes discipline a student for having disciplined

employees in the future and raise the name Ranaco Education & Training
Institute (RETI) itself. Those experienced during training at activance
Engineering is meant once and here I would like to suggest to the RETI that is
effective if a student is trained in the industry, due to the assignment of the
activities linked to what they have learned during the study in RETI.

In conclusion, the training is so effective component to give students exposure

situations, the intricacies of the world of work. And this will make a student is
increased confidence to face challenges and tests in the future.

31

CHAPTER V

5.0 Comments And Suggestions

In my opinion, the Matas Electric Sdn Bhd is very suitable as a place to do
regardless of industry training for students from Diploma in Maritime
Engineering and Technology, nor Diploma in Mechanical Engineering &
Diploma in Electrical Engineering. For all equally if IPT to undergo industrial
training. Areas that are here are very compatible with the requirements of the
college. This statement is made is based on what I've seen for six months
during the period of industrial training. The company can be used as a
platform for students in the future which is a facility of the student and
provide a profit to the company.

5.1 Comments During The Company Matas Electrical

Engineering
Matas Electric is a company known almost all over the malaysia
because of the quality of work and quantity of the products is very good and
in line with requirements. There are many university students who have
undergone training in the company's industry.

During my industrial training in company Matas Electric, the work I am doing

is divided into two parts, Fabrication, Mechanical and Electrical. In the field
of Mechanical divided into sections such as the completion of the project,
assemble and dismantle the machine and others. The electrical field was is
like making installations, repair and troubleshoot.

Through my observation, this company is a medium sized company, but the

products are produced with high quality also. Therefore, all employees are

32

required to maintain company standards in order to avoid contaminating the

name. In addition , the company provides a lot of knowledge and wisdom,
which for me is hard to find in other companies because despite being under
one roof , I was able to learn about both the field of Mechanical and Electrical
fields in which a bonus for me during industrial training here .

In Matas Electric, I placed at the PORT TANJUNG PELEPAS (PTP) and

Malaysian Marine Heavy Eng (MMHE) on which all technicians are in this
section. It is also easier for me in gathering information on the company and
learn in a more in-depth about the training industry. Disclosure of industry
training there are very large. Therefore, no need to feel bad.

In addition, the workers there are very conscious sense of family. It is clear
that when all employees get to know most of each other because of their
families. The Matas Electric very concerned about the safety and health of
workers. This can be seen when all employees are required to wear safety boot
at all times while in the working places. Apart from the application of the
boot, the use of life jackets also emphasized, especially for workers in the
marine. Application of the boot and a jacket is to avoid any accident or injury
that required such as hammer falls on the feet and so on.

5.2 Proposal
Here, I would like to suggest to the Ranaco Education & Training
Institute in particular to the management of Training and Industrial Exchange
provides monitoring of students undergoing practical training. With the advent
of this monitoring can be seen more clearly in respect of work done by
students and strengthen the relationship between the Ranaco with the students
undergo practical training .Finally, the recommendations provided this will

33

ultimately lead to some improvements in the organization and management

that can be updated and greater heights in the future.
