Dontz said that
although they were just
happy to be in the compe-
tition, still, they were dis-
appointed that they didn’t
win.
“The day was super
long,” she said. “The clock
started at 6 a.m. and we
were totally exhausted by
the time it ended. It’s hard
to describe. You’re just
very, very tired.”
She said after the nine
hours of competition, each
team has to present their
cake, then they were sent
to dinner while the judges
deliberated for several
more hours.
Dontz said she was
also disappointed that the
judges criticized a com-
puter her team used to cut
out some of the patterns
for the cake.
“I was super surprised
that they were so nega-
tive about it. Other teams
had used it before. All the
designs that we did with it
were original, and I don’t
see where there’s much of
a difference from cutting
the designs other ways.”
As was the case when
she was on the program
last fall, she is hearing
from a lot of friends who
watched the show. One
of her fans was particu-
larly disappointed with the
judges’ decision. Dontz
said she laughed when the
friend said, “I haven’t been
