andBusinessEducation

InpursuanceofdecisionoftheCommissioninits18thMeetingheldonMarch31,2009
thecompetentauthorityhasbeenpleasedtoapprovethefollowingcriteriaforweighing
andequivalencewithgradationforHECrecognizedjournalsofpublicationsindiscipline
ofSocialSciencesandHumanities:

a. ResearchArticlespublishedinallthejournalsinSS&Horrelatedareaswhichare
included in database of ISI Web of Science (Arts & Humanities Citation Index,
SocialSciencesCitationIndexExpanded,SocialSciencesCitationIndex)areto
beconsideredasCategoryXpublications.

b. Research Articles Published in all the journals being published by Professional

Associations/Bodies of repute from academically advanced countries are to be
consideredasCategoryXpublications.Thisissubjecttotheconditionthatthe
journals are being indexed/abstracted in HEC recognized indexing/abstracting
agencies.

c. Bookspublishedafterpeerreviewbyinternationalpublishersofreputefromthe
academically advanced world and books published by national publishers of
internationalrepute,recognizedbyHECwouldbeconsideredastwopublications
ofCategoryX.

d. Chapters/Articlesin Encyclopedias published by international publishers of

academicreputeorbynationalpublishersofinternationalrepute,recognizedby
HECfollowingamechanismofblindpeerreviewarevalidforCategoryY.

e. FollowingcategoriesforAwardwinningpublicationswererecommended:
a. InternationalAwardfromProfessionalBodiesCategoryW
b. NationalAwardCategoryX.

f. ReportsforWB,IMF,andUNESCOwerenottobeconsideredforfulfillmentof
minimumconditions/requirementsbutwouldbeconsideredadditionalwork.

g. EditedBooks/ChaptersinEditedBookswouldbeconsideredadditionalworkbut
notcountedtowardsmeetingtheminimumrequirements.

The Committee for Development of Social Sciences and Humanities in Pakistan will
decide about (a) the journals being published by Professional Associations/Bodies of
repute from academically advanced countries (b) international/national publishers of
academicreputeoncasetocasebasis.
