    TensionsbetweenPakistanandAfghanistaninneither
    countrysinterest

    InresponsetotherequestfromtheAfghan
    Governmentandwiththesupportoftheinternational
    community,Pakistanmadestrenuouseffortsto
    facilitatetheprocessofAfghanreconciliation.
    DialoguedidopenbetweentheAfghanGovernment
    andtheTaliban,whichwasanunprecedentedfirst.
    Butitwasunfortunatethatcertaindevelopments
    stalledtheprocess.Thereafter,militantattacks
    intensified,whichweunequivocallycondemn.
    Pakistanwillpersistintheendeavortohelpresume
    thedialogueprocessandpromotepeaceand
    stabilityinAfghanistan.Wecan,however,dosoonly
    ifwereceivetherequiredcooperationfromthe
    Afghangovernment.
