Title of the Event: Drug Abuse: Leave the dark room

Introduction: Drug abuse is a vital problem in our society. This issue is more prevalent in our
young generations. Such abuse poses potential threat to the society, his/her family and most
importantly to the victim himself or herself. Sometimes the victims lose his/her control over
the circumstances and lead his/her life towards such a darkness from which it is very difficult
to come back. Proper medication on drug abused patient involves long term treatment and
is quite expensive in our country as very few institutions offer such facilities.
Purpose of this topic: We chose this topic to create awareness campaign among the young
citizens/youthful of the nation so that they are aware of the detrimental effects that drug
abuse can have on their heath, lifestyle and psychological behavior. We believe that
prevention is better than cure. Hence, we want to convey a clear message to the target
group that it is better to avoid such path and lead a better life.
Solution: The solution to such problem is ascertain such an understanding among the target
group sp that they take an oath not to engage into such activities. As for us, we are planning
to conduct a seminar and raise some thought provoking questions so that the target group
thinks twice before making any unwanted actions that might cause sufferings to him or her
in the short run or in the foreseeable future. We will be inviting expert on this topic/field to
share experience so that the audience get to familiar themselves with real life existing
scenarios. We will also be showing relevant videos that will engage them to act responsible
and share the words with others as well.
Target Group: College Students. We justify our target group based on the fact that its the
youth from this age bracket who are getting involved in this kind of activities be it due to
peer pressure, personal choice or from familiar circumstances.
Required Logistics: Team Civic Education will solely themselves conduct and meet all
logistical needs. We will not require any external logistical support. We will need projector,
camera, video camera, sketch pens, chart papers from SAYS desk.
Time Frame: We are planning to host the seminar on 11 th of November 1, 2015. The
workshop will be for 2-3 hours at max. We will start with ice breaking session. Then we will
have one to many conversations among our session speaker and the audience. We will also
be having speech from our session speaker. Then our SAYS member will put forward their
presentation based on their research on the topic. The common message in all presentation
will be to create awareness among the audience and put forward some scenarios that they
can relate and gain insight on Dos and Donts on the topic.
Venue: **We propose to target Cambrian College (Notun Bazar branch) as our venue
**subject to availability, members are requested to use their link in the mentioned college or
in other college as well.
Session Speaker: **We propose to preach Dr. Mehtab Khanum as our guest speaker. We will
also try to bring one real life victim to share his/her story and how he/she recovered.

Feasibility: The success and proper execution of this seminar will rely on venue and a
recognized speaker. The main challenges for our group member are these two things. Other
than that, we are optimistic to pull it off with grace. Hence, the seminar is feasible.
