Q1.(a) *Three CTLTI systems with impulse response h1(t), h2(t) and h3(t) are connected as
shown in Fig.(a)

(i) Determine the impulse response heq(t) of the equivalent system as shown in fig.(b) in terms of
h1(t), h2(t) and h3(t).
(ii) Let h1(t) = e-t u(t), h2(t) = (t-2) and h3(t) = e-2t u(t). Determine and sketch heq(t) for the
equivalent system.
(iii) With h1(t), h2(t) and h3(t) as specified in part (ii). Let the input signal be a unit step, i.e.
x(t)=u(t). Determine and sketch the signals w(t), y1(t), y2(t), and y(t).
(b) An interconnected LTI system is shown below. The impulse response is h1(n)=(1/2)n u(n+2),
h2(n) = (n) and h3(n) = u(n-1). Let the overall impulse responses of the system relating y(n) to

R=1/2 and C= 0.02F. Calculate the steady state voltage across the parallel RC circuit in terms
of cosine Fourier series.

Explain how this property can be used for finding EFS co-efficients of x(t) from the EFS coefficients of g(t). (Hint: a> 0, obtain EFS co-efficient of g(t)).

(c)*Verify that the DTFS co-efficients found for the signals in 4(b) satisfy the conjugate
