Sysmac Studio Installation with CX-One

Technical Note
Overview:
This document will explain the precautions and steps necessary to successfully install Sysmac
Studio V1.01 on the same computer as CX-One V4. Omron has recently found a latent problem
in Sysmac Studio Ver.1.01 and the November 2011 AutoUpdate that complicates installation on
computers with CX-One V4. This issue is being addressed and will be resolved in the next
release of Sysmac Studio V1.02.
We would very much appreciate your kind understanding and cooperation with this matter.

Software Compatibility:
Functionally speaking, Sysmac Studio V1.01 and higher are fully compatible with CX-One
V4.22 and higher. However, due to issues with the November 2011 free Online AutoUpdates,
when installing Sysmac Studio and CX-One on the same computer, some functions of CX-One
may not work depending on the order of installation. In order to avoid encountering the problem,
or recover if the problem has already occurred, please take the actions described below.
Installation Order which DOES NOT Cause Issue:
1. CX-One V4.22
2. Sysmac Studio V1.01 or higher
3. November 2011 AutoUpdates
Installation Order which DOES CAUSE Issue:
1. CX-One V4.22
2. November 2011 AutoUpdates
3. Sysmac Studio V1.01 or higher

Symptoms of Issue:
1. CX-Designer cannot be started.
2. Neither E5CC nor E5EC are displayed under the Temperature Controller on the CPS
Tab Page of the CX-Integrators component list. The component list will be displayed on
the lower left part of the CX-Integrator Window by selecting Windows - Component
List from the View Menu on the CX-Integrator.

3. When making Position Control Unit settings in the I/O Table Window of CX-Programmer,
the following message is displayed. (This is not applicable to CX-One Lite.)

Precautions for Installing CX-One and Sysmac Studio on the Same Computer
Please be sure to read the following precautions before installing the Sysmac Studio.
1. If CX-One has NOT been installed on the computer
Install Sysmac Studio according to the installation procedure provided with the product.
2. If CX-One HAS been installed on the computer
Check whether or not CX-One AutoUpdate for November 2011 has been applied according to
the following procedure.
(1) Select Omron - CX-One - CX-One Information from the Windows Start Menu.

(2) Check whether or not Common Components exists in the Item Column and its value is
2011.11 for CX-One Ver.4 or older Rev.01. The CX-One AutoUpdate for November 2011
has been applied if the item is displayed like the red frame of the above figure.
(i) If CX-One AutoUpdate for November 2011 has NOT been applied
If Common Components does not exist, or the value of Common Components is
not 2011.11 for CX-One Ver.4 or older Rev.01, install Sysmac Studio according to the
installation procedure provided with the product.
Then, apply the CX-One AutoUpdate as necessary.
(ii) If CX-One AutoUpdate for November 2011 HAS been applied
Issues may occur when Sysmac Studio is installed. Some CX-One functions cannot
operate properly in this situation.
In this case, please refer to Flow Chart for Confirming Customers Usage State when
advising customers.

Recovery Procedure
Those who have already applied the CX-One AutoUpdate (November 2011) and are going
to install Sysmac Studio, as well as those who have encountered the problem after installing
Sysmac Studio need to restore their software by one of the following methods.
a) Uninstall CX-One and Sysmac Studio. Then, reinstall them in the order that the
problem does not occur.
b) While the problem is occurring, download the CX-One Maintenance Tool from the
following URL and execute it to recover CX-One.

CX-One Maintenance Tool Installation Procedure
Confirmations before Installation
For Windows login users, the administrator or a user with administrator rights must perform the
installation. Other users will not have sufficient write permissions for some folders and cannot
install the maintenance program correctly.
Close all application programs running on Windows before starting the installation procedure.
Do not stop the installation process in the middle. Copied files may remain in the installation
directory.
Do not turn OFF or reset the computer in the middle of the installation process. Computer data
may become corrupted.
It may be necessary to restart Windows after finishing the installation. If required, restart
Windows according to the messages displayed by the installer.

Extract the MaintenanceTool_20111214.zip file that you have downloaded.


(You will see the following file/folder structure in the extracted folder)

Double-click the setup.exe in the extracted folder.


Select the CX-One installation language on the Choose Setup Language Dialog Box and click
the OK Button. (This setting is made just for selecting the language displayed on the installer,
not for changing the language used on the installed CX-One.)

Click the Yes Button to continue.

Click the OK Button to complete the installation of the maintenance program.
