I am writing this letter today to warn and inform you about the character of your

potential Head of School, Seth Linfield. Simply, once you are able to overcome
the fact that he is a Stamford educated attorney, has seven children and is an
ordained rabbi. He is vindictive and lacks leadership skills, and has little ability to
raise money. He has destroyed lives of many teachers and even a vice principal.
As LCDS’s second largest donor in its 60 year history, ($100K in 2005 donated at
age 35) Seth said that “He read and reviewed my donation contract with LCDS and
determined that my “family scholarship fund doesn’t exist …and the Sabet family
stole the computer lab for $100K, it should have been sold for no less than
$250K.” In July of 2010, my civil suit against LCDS was mediated and settled. My
scholarship fund was reinstated, and LCDS’s board signed an apology letter to me.

In 2006, Seth Linfield was hired as Head of school. Everyone was in awe of this
man who was willing to sacrifice time, money, and stature to head a school rather
than partner a law firm. Seth Linfield was not an experienced school
administrator. Upon taking analysis of his resume, it shows a person who moves
a family of 9 practically every 3 years!! Linfield moved his family from Indiana,
Oklahoma, California, New Jersey, and Florida and now to Irvine, Ca. Why would
your Jewish institution want to put itself in the same position?

Seth Linfield expanded with his idea of a middle school consisting of nearly 25
kids in 3 grades. The school burnt through cash. Two years later, the seventh and
eighth grades have disbanded. There are even less kids in the school today
despite having added an extra grade. Finally, the only major donation was from
the Chairman of the Board of the school who had hired him. The families that I
spoke to could not relate to an orthodox rabbi and father of 7at a conservative
school that was not native to the state. As a result, he didn’t connect to the
parents nor raise money during the best years of our countries economy.

Seth Linfield had little experience before joining LCDS. As a result, he hired a vice
principal, Rabbi Uri Gordon. Rabbi Gordon had worked 17 years in the prestigious
Ramaz School in New York City (headed by Rabbi Haskel Lookstein (212) 427-
1000). Rabbi Gordon had great experience and fierce loyalty. He carried out Seth
Linfield’s vision and operated the school only to ultimately realize that he was
meant to be a “Fall guy” and was removed from his office on the last day of
school by security personnel. Rabbi Gordon had shown great skill as an
administrator and displayed unparallel professionalism. He was promised
repeatedly a renewal contract only to be delayed by endless excuses such as legal,
tax, and holiday issues. Rabbi Gordon was abandoned by LCDS in mid-June of
2007 with no employment or severance pay. He was unfairly “Let go” when most
schools had completed hiring. Hence, Rabbi Gordon remained unemployed for

I have settled my differences with LCDS. However, LCDS has tarnished their
name in the community during Seth Linfield’s short tenure. He operated LCDS
as a business devoid of morals. The mentality that reigned during his tenure was
the emphasis on “legal obligation” rather than Jewish ethics. There’s a Jewish
proverb known as “Derech ertetz kadma la’tora”. Seth Linfield may indeed be
an ordained rabbi. However, the Torah means absolutely nothing if we don’t
know how to treat one another.
