Connectors for wires
A pair of separable wire connectors shall conform to the following
requirements:
a)
A connector pair shall be provided with a means to prevent accidental disconnection due to
vibration.
b)
A connector pair shall be guide-keyed to prevent the connection with incorrect polarity. When two
or more connector pairs of the same type are used, the individual connectors of each pair shall be
marked with a match mark or other suitable identifying symbol.

3.4 Wiring procedures Wiring shall be carried out in accordance with the following procedures:
a)
Wiring shall be grouped and arranged for each circuit or destination as far as practicable.
b)
The internal radius of a bend shall be four times or more the finished outside diameter of a wire for
insulated stranded-copper wires and two times or more for flexible wires. At places where wires
are subjected to repeated flexing, flexible wires shall be used with an internal bending radius of eight
times the outside diameter or more.
c)
Ducts used for duct wiring shall be flame-resistant, and care shall be exercised so that no insulated
stranded copper wires will be subject to mechanical damage at their exit.
d)
Where different sizes of wires are placed in the same duct or bundles together, a suitable means shall
be provided so that the mechanical strength of the smallest wire or wires will not be impaired.
e)
Wires that come out of a duct shall be secured at a suitable position to protect them from any
mechanical damage due to vibration at the duct exit or to prevent any vibration from transmitting to
the connection terminals.
f)
Bands used for cleated or bundled wiring shall be such that no mechanical damage is received by the
wires and shall be provided at intervals of 300 mm or less.
g)
Where a PVC-insulated stranded-copper wire or wires are secured to a metal body, a protective
insulation of rubber, plastic, or equivalent material shall be inserted between the wire or wires and
the metal body.
h)
All the wire ends connected to terminal board terminal shall be marked with a circuit code or a
symbol that agrees with that in the drawing, in a legible and permanently identifiable manner.
i)
Where the control console consists of a number of separable sections, a terminal board or boards, or
a pair or pairs of separable connectors for the wiring between two adjacent sections shall be provided
in either of the two sections.
j)
When connecting a wire or a wire terminal to a terminal board terminal, the connection shall
effectively be prevented from loosening due to vibration, such as by using a spring washer.
k)
When terminating a shielded wire, the shielding braid shall be separated from the internal conductor
at a point sufficiently far away from the exposed conductor end and shall be dressed so that it will
not come in contact with the exposed conductor, or other terminals or conductors.
l)
Dead metal parts of the electrical apparatus fitted at or inside the control console shall be effectively
grounded.
m)
Wiring to an intrinsically safe explosion-proof apparatus, if any in the control console, shall not be
coexistent with general circuit wiring in the same wiring duct nor be banded together with general
circuit wiring. Further, such wiring shall be colour-coded with a light-blue colour for ready
identification that it is intrinsically safe circuit wiring.
n)
When power line wires and signal wires are laid in parallel with each other, effective measures
against electromagnetic induction and electromagnetic interference shall be taken.

Steel pipe
JIS G 3454-STPG
JIS G 3456-STPT
1. Control air header pipe operated at a maximum pressure of 1.0 MPa or less or a similar pipe may be of a
material and dimensions that are suitable for the maximum operating temperature and flow of fluid in the
pipe.
2. Carbon steel pipe is to be used for fuel oil piping in which fluid temperature exceeds 65C within the
control console and the maximum working pressure exceeds 1.0 MPa.

4.2
Couplings
Couplings shall be either flareless pipe couplings or welded pipe couplings and be
suitable for the pipe to be connected.
4.3
Stop valves Stop valves shall conform to the following standards or shall be equivalent thereto in
performance and be suitable for the pipe to be connected:
JIS F 7329, JIS F 7341, JIS F 7343, JIS F 7379, JIS F 7387, and JIS F 8388.
4.4
Piping procedures Piping shall be carried out in accordance with the following procedures:
a)
Piping shall be grouped to a practicable extent and arranged in an ordinary manner, and shall be
firmly secured in position at suitable intervals by means of metal strips, etc., to prevent any harmful
vibration. A sufficient allowance for thermal expansion and contraction shall be provided to
prevent any pipe damage together with a further supplementary means of escape, such as insertion or
buffer materials.
b)
Piping shall be suitably sloped to prevent the residual fluid or condensate, and attention shall be paid
to the branching out direction.
c)
The internal radius of a pipe bend shall be two times or more the pipe outside diameter for 90
bending and 4 times or more for 180 bending. Pipe bending shall be made at a normal temperature
using an appropriate tool or tools.
d)
Machined or tooled pipes shall be cleaned with air of a sufficient velocity before assembly.
e)
Pressure piping to which a pressure gauge or device connects shall be provided with a stop valve
capable of withstanding the maximum pressure of that system.
The stop valves shall be fitted directly to the device, or when such causes inconvenience for
valve operation, they shall be arranged in a group at a readily operable place.
f)
A joint portion of piping connecting to an instrument, device, or external piping shall be provided
with a fitting, except that the use of a fitting at the mid-point of any piping within the control console
shall be avoided unless necessary.
g)
Fittings for external piping connections shall preferably be grouped at a position that is suitable for
connection work, and each fitting shall be marked with a code of symbol that agrees with that in the
drawing, in a legible and permanently identifiable manner.
h)
Pipe joints other than those in air piping shall be screened from electrical equipment or wiring by
means of partitions, etc., so that the leakage of fluid (steam, water, oil, refrigerant) will not have any
undue influence on the operation of electrical equipment. Further, there shall be a suitable draining
system capable of discharging any leaked fluid or condensate to the bottom of the control console
and then to the outside.
