How Does Art Reflect Culture In Indonesia ?

Culture has a major role in a daily life, it is a fundamental component that

always develop, but it is also a source of identity, innovation, and creativity. A set
of spiritual, material, intellectual and emotional that features in a society or
community. An art is defined as the results from people within the culture which
express themselves / ideas / current event of their life that shows sensitivity and
imagination. Art is something that influences many parts of our lives, art is what
drives us to be creative. It took someones thought to fabricate the masterpiece,
and it provide a way for people to explore new possibilities to notice the world.
Art itself has a large effect on culture, as it can be symbolic of traits,
morals, and religious characteristics. For examples in the ancient art in the era
of Hinduism it only icludes plants and patterns to represent God because their
culture did not allow an image of God otherwise. Or in the periode of islam
kingdoms it was very hard to find a sculpture, because their believes did not
allow to make something that barely look like living things. The list goes on and
on, is not possible if any art not reflect a culture, so of course art has influence
on culture as well, but it does not create it alone. Art is created in response to
culture and vice versa, along with a billion other factors, such as technology,
religion, social structure, economics and the worlds reaction.
In Indonesia we can see very clear that every arts (including dance,
theatre, handcraft, music, etc) reflects a culture. For the example, dance in
Indonesia reflects the countrys diversity of ethnicities and cultures, there are
more than 700 ethnic groups. Austronesian roots and Melanesian tribal forms are
visible. And influences ranging from neighbooring Asian and even western styles
through colonization. Each ethnic group has their own dances, makes total
dances in Indonesia are more than 3000 original dance. Pisok is one of the
traditional dance from North Sulawesi that reflects a culture, it is the local name
for sparrow also known as Burung Gereja (Church Bird). This bird is considered
holy, the Minahasan people believe that the Pisok Bird always brings good luck.
The Pisok dance is performed by an odd number of girls, because they believe
girls in odd number represents sacreedness.
Art can also help us to make a better future, if people in the world doing
coorporate social responsibility by using the art as a vehicle for positive change
only and not abusing it, there will be a better world for everyone, which is more
dynamic and fulled of peace. The power of culture that has already put into the
artwork or masterpiece will continue to make people understand and make them
realize how important is a culture in the daily life, because no one can imagined
hows the wold gonna be if there are no culture. And thats why art reflect a
culture
