Mechanism of toner supply

The hook of the drive unit is caught on the rib of the toner bottle and turns with a toner bottle. Then toner is
supplied from toner bottle.

A cause of C-2403

Toner bottle is driven by the rib of the toner bottle hook over the hook part of drive unit. However, the ribs could be
damaged by overload of rotation from the drive unit. The cause of the overload is interference between Index part assy
and Mounting part assy.

As a result, Toner bottle does not rotate and C-2403 could occur.

Countermeasure

Add two spacers between toner supply guide plates/ lower and mounting plate.

A part name: Flat washer
Purpose:
The purpose to add the two spacers are to prevent the interference. And the spacers will be introduced into
mass-production from the middle of October, 2010.

Installation procedure for two flat washers

* Install a spacer in the following procedure

1.

Pull out the developing unit and a drum cartridge.

2.

Remove the main body cover/ front, operation cover/ left, operation cover/ right and cover.

3.

Open a cartridge pressing pedestal.

4.

Remove the toner supply guide part assy.

Remove the Toner supply guide plate/ lower with toner bottle.

6.

Add two spacers (t=0.8mm) between mounting part assy and toner supply guide plate/ lower.

7.

Please confirm the turns of toner bottle smoothly after install the mounting part assy, and match the toner bottle
insertion position.(projection part and covex part at center)

8.

Assemble the toner supply guide plate/ lower in the main body.

9.

Confirm at the ribs of the set toner bottle that there is no damage and no transformation, etc.

5.

Cleaning procedure for toner bottle position sensor (PS28)

1.

Remove the finishing option.

2.

Remove the cleaning plate for toner bottle position detection sensor (PS28).

Remove a fixing screw of PS28.

NOTE: When removing the fixing screw for PS28, be careful about the fall of the screw.
4.

Pull out PS28.

5.

Clean PS28 using by airbrush.

6.

Assemble PS28 in the main body.

NOTE: When assembling the fixing screw for PS28, be careful about the fall of the screw.
