Mama Said
Creatures
and Creepers
Go Bump in
the Night

BY CASSIE REA
Staff Writer

A North Carolina woman
named Tracy recently woke to
a thump in her attic. She called
her older son
and nephew
to come deal
with
what
she thought
was an animal clamoring around
and pushing
nails out of
her bedroom ceiling.
What they found shocked
the family. Her ex-boyfriend
climbed out of her attic with a
grin and walked out the front
door before police could arrive
at the scene.
The man was recently released from jail for stealing
Tracys car. He had spent the
last two weeks in Tracys attic, relieving himself in plastic
cups and spying on her from a
vent above her room.
He had packed old coats and
jackets into the heating unit
and was sleeping in it, according to the home owner.
What made the ordeal even
more creepy was the attic could
only be accessed from inside
the house by a pull-down ladder on the first floor.
The man simply waltzed
into Tracys home when no one
was looking and set up camp in
her insulated upper room. Now
her five children are afraid to
sleep in their beds even though
the locks have been changed.
Back in the day it was fine
to leave doors open and homes
unguarded. Now, creepers like
this guy give women and men
alike all the more reason to
think twice about locking their
doors and windows.

Black Butler Goes Straight for the Heart and the Jugular

REVIEW Superb
Anime Hooks Viewers
with Mystery, Dark Humor
BY MARY NEWPORT
Editor-in-Chief

Sebastian is the perfect servant. He is skilled, refined and

always polite, even when impaling impudent mobsters with
the masters best silverware.
I am simply, he says, one
hell of a butler.
Sebastian is also a demon,
contracted to serve Ciel Phantomhive. At 10 years old, Ciel
was kidnapped and sold into
slavery as the family mansion
burned behind him, incinerating the bodies of his murdered
parents. His anguish attracted
a demons attention, and they
made a deal. Sebastian would
help Ciel destroy his parents
murderers. Then he would eat
Ciels soul.

Bag It!

RECOMMENDED
Bag It! has Jeb Berrier, an average yet quirky American, exploring
the overuse and misuse of plastics in todays global society. This documentary spotlights plastic bags, what damage has been done and what
needs to change. It is entertaining and informative, so there is no reason
to not watch and learn from this film.

squinting at the screen as their

brains churn furiously.
Many episodes showcase
dark themes like insanity, torture and murder, but audiences
should expect as much from a
show about a demon butler.
Moments of humor are satisfyingly evident despite the

overlying darkness as a grim

reaper rides up Big Ben on a
chainsaw, demons duel with
cake batter and a character
declares himself Queen of the
Fruits.
The only misfortune is the
apparent decision to pull in
more male viewers. Devilishly
handsome Sebastian attracted
a strong feminine fanbase, but
season two spends a little more
time on the lady characters, all
of whom have acquired cleavage-baring dresses and a habit
of breathing deeply.
Despite the occasional emphasis on female forms, the
show remains a must-watch
for everyone who enjoys supernatural suspense, good fight
scenes and death gods who
cant see without their glasses.
Black Butler currently
airs on the Funimation Channel, where it plays in the lessthan-ideal 11:30 a.m. time slot.
Wise viewers will skip the fuss
and buy the DVD from Amazon, Hastings or any place discerning otaku shop.

Newsroom

AMAZING
Few people other than Aaron Sorkin can make a show about the news
entertaining. His writing makes viewers believe they can be both informed and educated by anchors and reporters. The ensemble cast led
by Jeff Daniels is superbly captivating. This is a must-watch not only
for news hounds, but everyone.

The Words

WASTE OF MONEY
A fiction writer narrates, through his newly released book, the story
of a writer who steals the work of another writer who has lived, loved
and lost his manuscript. As confusing as it sounds, this is the plot of the
entire movie. The Words leaves viewers speechless, trying to make
sense of the chaos even after the credits.
