Mobilgard 570

Proven high performance cylinder oil that helps optimise

engine performance and potentially reduce operating costs*
Proven to reduce costs and increase vessel
availability
Mobilgard 570 (70 BN) is a high quality cylinder oil
that helps optimise the performance of two-stroke
marine diesel engines operating on heavy fuel oil
with a sulphur content of up to 3.5%. It has been
proven to help marine operators save operating
costs by extending piston overhaul intervals and
optimising feed rates.

Excellent anti-wear properties

The cylinder oil has been engineered using high
quality base oils, synthetic thickener and additives.
Mobilgard 570 provides excellent anti-wear
properties to help extend piston ring and liner life,
and deliver outstanding deposit control to keep
pistons and rings clean.

Suitable for the majority of engines in

operation today
ExxonMobil engineered Mobilgard 570 in close
collaboration with leading marine engine builders.
It has No Objection Letters from MAN Diesel &
Turbo, Wrtsil and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries
and is suitable for use in the majority of engines in
operation today.
It can also help protect engines that are susceptible
to low levels of cold corrosion, a phenomenon that
causes premature liner wear when engine cylinders
operate at conditions below the dew point.

Maximise cost savings

In conjunction with ExxonMobils MobilGard
Cylinder Condition Monitoring (CCM) programme,
Mobilgard 570 can help operators reduce costs*.
MobilGard CCM includes a series of on-board tests
which monitor the performance of the cylinder oil
and engine to help safely extend piston overhaul
intervals and optimise feed rates*.

Proven in the field

Mobilgard 570 and MobilGard CCM are proven to
help operators reduce costs and increase vessel
availability:
Athens-based Danaos Shipping extended piston
overhaul intervals by more than 250% and
reduced cylinder oil feed rates to the minimum
setting of 0.6 g/KWhr.
A global ship management company operating
in Singapore achieved a significantly lower liner
wear rate of 0.0172 mm/1,000 hours.
The company prevented new cold corrosion
formation and extended piston overhaul
intervals to an expected 35,000 hours.

Potential benefits* of MobilGard technology

include helping vessel operators to:
Control low levels of cold corrosion
Extend engine life
Optimise engine performance and cylinder oil
feed rates
Lengthen piston overhaul intervals
Reduce lay-up time for engine maintenance
Increase vessel reliability
Decrease maintenance costs
