1.2 KNOWN ISSUES IN THIS VERSION

----------------------------------------------------------------------1) The communityString OID for the Trap Receiver doesn't allow an entry length
of 16.
2) The NMC2 Firmware Upgrade utility does not support UTF-8 characters for the
username and password fields.
3) "System: Detected an unauthorized user attempting to access the FTP
interface" and "System: Password Changed"
events do not send SNMP Traps.
4) In the config.ini file, the [EventActionConfig] keywords may report incorrect
data when performing a mass configuration.
5) Device level user privileges in the Command Line Interface (CLI) are not
consistent with the device user privileges
in the Web interface.
6) In the Conifg.ini, the SystemDateTime Server keywords return strange values
when long strings are applied.
7) There are different Date Formats on the NMC General/About page.
8) The DNS Domain Name validation doesn't conform to RFC1035 Standards for
formatting.
9) "System: Email: Could not mail, queue full." event log message is repeatedly
recorded in the event log when a fourth email recipient is configured even
though the receipient is receiving the notification.
10) Some column headers in the data.txt download file are not displayed
correctly in Russian.
11) File transfers using SCP do not work properly with WinSCP client.
12) Certain SSL certificates generated by third party Certificate Authorities do
not import or upload to the NMC. The only working solution is using the APC
Security Wizard to create both the CA and SSL certificate.
13) SSH Access issues when used with certain versions of OpenSSH client.
14) When configuring a firewall rule through the web interface, it becomes
active even when the firewall is not enabled.
15) UPS communication passthrough does not work after login/logout from serial
console.
16) NMC interface may restart when multiple alarms are logged simultaneously.

17) Authenticated/secure email server settings could be potentially altered
during an upgrade from an AOS prior to 6.1.8. Refer to knowledge base article ID
FA239806 for more information.
1.3 NEW FEATURES & ENHANCEMENTS SINCE AOS v6.2.0
----------------------------------------------------------------------1) TLS 1.1 browser support.
1.4 BUGS FIXED IN THIS VERSION SINCE AOS v6.2.0
----------------------------------------------------------------------1) Web browsers could not connect to the Network Management Card 2 via TLS 1.0.
Please review knowledge base article ID FA238115 for further information.
2) Firefox reports "ssl_error_rx_unexpected_change_cipher" during TLS
handshaking. Please review knowledge base article ID FA238115 for further
information.

2.0 UPS Application for Smart-UPS, Smart-UPS XL, Smart-UPS RT,
Smart-UPS VT, Smart-UPS DP (apc_hw05_sumx_621.bin)
________________________________________________________________
2.1 COMPATIBILITY
----------------------------------------------------------------------apc_hw05_aos_621.bin

Network Management Card OS & TCP/IP Stack

See 1.0 OS & TCP/IP Stack Modifications (apc_hw05_aos_621.bin) for a

list of modifications and enhancements that affect this application
version.
2.2 KNOWN ISSUES IN THIS VERSION
----------------------------------------------------------------------1) If the Network Management Card is installed in a low-priority slot in the
Triple Expansion Chassis, and a Graceful Shutdown event is initiated by a card
with higher priority, the UPS: Graceful Shutdown event is recorded twice in the
event log of the low-priority Network Management Card, and is not recorded in
the event log of the high-priority card.
2) If the AP9617, AP9618, or AP9619 Network Management Card is installed in a
high-priority slot in the Triple Expansion Chassis and a Graceful Shutdown event
is initiated by a AP9630/AP9631 Network Management Card with lower priority, the
Graceful Shutdown alarm does not clear on the AP9617, AP9618, or AP9619
Management Card.
3) Device Sensors for InfraStruXure Central and NetBotz appliances detect
critical Internal Battery Temperature Violation events but do not generate an
alert.
4) When the outlet group control commands are configured to perform turn on and
turn off actions within less than 3 seconds of each other, the commands may be
delayed or cancelled.
5) For some UPS models, bypass alarms do not clear if a graceful off, reboot, or
sleep command is initiated while the UPS is in bypass.
6) If a UPS Control command is in progress and another UPS Control command is
initiated, the original command is cancelled and the most recent command
succeeds.
7) SNMP does not support the UPS or Switched Outlet Group sequencing delay
commands.
Page 3

SUMX_SY_621_Release_Notes
8) For Smart-UPS VT, the Web Redundancy Alarm can only be configured at the
display interface.
9) The Network Management Card may lose communication with the UPS if it is
installed in a Triple Expansion Chassis with other accessories.
10) A UPS that has been deliberately put into sleep mode can behave
inconsistently. For example, a UPS can turn off after only a few seconds of
being in the "Graceful shutdown initiated" state, or can turn on after only a
few seconds of being in the "Turned off for a defined period" state.
11) On "UPS - Outlet Group - Control", selecting Turn Off UPS immediately
sometimes logs the turn off and turn on many times.
12) For SNMPv1, upsAdvConfigRatedOutputVoltage SNMP OID can be set but the new
value only displays correctly after you refresh two or three times (using an
SNMP Walk).
13) An NMC that never establishes communication with UPS does not give an alarm.
14) MGE Galaxy 3500 UPS: upsAdvInputMinLineVoltage SNMP OID does not return the
correct value.
15) MGE Galaxy 3500 UPS: NMC Web UI-> Diagnostics: Calibration test result shows
Pass while aborting the test in UPS power view.
16) MGE Galaxy 3500 UPS: Multicast IP Address accepts invalid values and values
outside the specified range.
17) MGE Galaxy 3500 UPS: NMC Status for external battery cabinet rating is not
matching with the same in Powerview status data.
18) MGE Galaxy 3500 UPS: Uploading Invalid sleep time values through config.ini
causes sleep time to be reset to 0.
19) Scheduled shutdown without "Signal PowerChute Network Shutdown Clients" for
UPSs with switchable outlet groups causes late wake up

Network Management Card OS & TCP/IP Stack

See OS & TCP/IP Stack Modifications (apc_hw05_aos_621.bin) for a list

of modifications and enhancements that affect this application
version.
3.2 KNOWN ISSUES IN THIS VERSION
----------------------------------------------------------------------1) A SNMP trap is not sent when the Network Management Card initiates a
self-test.
Page 4

SUMX_SY_621_Release_Notes
2) The drop-down list for audible alarm is not translated.
3) A Graceful Shutdown is logged twice in the event log when initiated from an
upstream device. In this context, an upstream device is closer to the UPS on the
UPS-Link comm bus than a downstream device (the UPS being the source of the
data).
4) The "Graceful Shutdown Initiated" alarm does not clear on an NMC device if
the reboot is initiated by a downstream NMC. In this context, a downstream
device is further away from the UPS on the UPS-Link comm bus than an upstream
device (the UPS being the source of the data).
5) Certain characters are not allowed in the Name field for the UPS
(Administration - General) but no error message displays. Avoid using
non-alphabetic symbols like !, #, -.
6) A UPS that has been deliberately put into sleep mode can behave
inconsistently. For example, a UPS can turn off after only a few seconds of
being in the "Graceful shutdown initiated" state, or can turn on after only a
few seconds of being in the "Turned off for a defined period" state.
7) Symmetra LX last battery module information in a frame is missing. Reference
knowledge base article ID FA177263 for additional information.

_______________________________________________________________________
4.1 COMPATIBILITY
----------------------------------------------------------------------This utility supports cards that have firmware version 3.X.X or higher and
is for IPv4 only.
_______________________________________________________________________
5.0 Miscellaneous
_______________________________________________________________________
5.1 Recovering from a Lost Password
----------------------------------------------------------------------See the User's Guide on the Utility CD or on the APC Web site
(www.apc.com) for instructions on how to recover from a lost password.
5.2 Event Support List
----------------------------------------------------------------------For the event names and event codes for all events supported for a
currently connected APC device, first retrieve the config.ini file from
the attached Network Management Card. To use FTP to retrieve
config.ini from a configured Network Management Card:
1. Open a connection to the Network Management Card,
using its IP Address:
ftp> open <ip_address>
2. Log on using the Administrator user name and password.
3. Retrieve the config.ini file containing the settings of the
Page 5

SUMX_SY_621_Release_Notes
Network Management Card of the UPS.
ftp> get config.ini
The file is written to the folder from which you launched FTP.
In the config.ini file, find the section heading [EventActionConfig].
In the list of events under that section heading, substitute 0x for
the initial E in the code for any event to obtain the hexadecimal
event code shown in the user interface and in the documentation. For
example, the hexadecimal code for the code E0033 in the config.ini
file (for the event "System: Configuration change") is 0x0033.
5.3 PowerNet MIB Reference Guide
----------------------------------------------------------------------NOTE: The MIB Reference Guide, available on the Network Management
Card CD and on the APC Web site (www.apc.com), explains the
structure of the MIB, types of OIDs, and the procedure for defining
trap receivers. For information on specific OIDs, use a MIB
browser to view their definitions and available values directly
from the MIB itself. You can view the definitions of traps at the
end of the MIB itself (the file powernet412.mib on the Network
Management Card CD and also downloadable from the American Power
Conversion Web site, www.apc.com).
