Now, l h2 +(r1 r2 )2

Thus, surface area of the bucket = 3.14 1010 (20 + 10) + 3.14 (10)2

b) 10 is the base edge and 13 is the lateral edge of the pyramid.

c) The total surface area of the pyramid is the sum of the areas of the 4 equal

Now area of the square = 10 2 =100 cm 2
By Herons formula:
Area of a triangle s(s a)(s b)(s c), .
where s

an = a + (n 1)d
189 = 5 + (n 1)8
So, n = (184/8) + 1 = 24
b) Common difference, d = 109 114 = 104 109 = 5
Therefore, the given sequence is an A.P.
First term, a = 114
For finding first negative term, Tn < 0

Now AOB is right angled at O.

x2 + 10x 1200 = 0
(x + 40)(x 30) = 0
x = 40 or x = 30
But x is the cost of the book and hence can't be negative. So, x = 30.
Thus, list price of the book is Rs. 30
23. Penalty for 1st day = Rs. 200

[5]

Penalty for 2nd day = Rs. 250

Penalty for 3rd day = Rs. 300, and so on.
Total penalty = Rs. 27750
The sequence of penalty form an A.P. with a (first term) = 200, d (common difference)

Let the construction work got delayed by n days.
Sn = 27750
n
[2 200 + (n 1) 50] = 27750
2
n[ 50n + 350 ] = 27750 2
50n[n + 7 ] = 27750 2
Dividing both sides of the equation by 50
n[n + 7]= 1110
n2 + 7n 1110 = 0
n(n + 37) 30(n + 37) = 0
(n 30)(n + 37) = 0
n 30 = 0 or n + 37 = 0
n = 30 or n = 37
Since the number of days cannot be negative, n = 30.
Thus, the number of days for which the construction work was delayed is 30.
