TEACHING TOMORROW, TODAY

16 OCTOBER 2012

MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL

DIARY TERM 4, 2015

Dear Parents
Welcome back after the short holiday, I sincerely hope that you enjoyed the time
with your children and spent some valuable family time together.
Thank you to the children who attended our annual tours, for their good behaviour
and being good ambassadors for our school. I hope that everyone had a good time
and learnt from the programs that were on offer.
Hopefully, next year all children will be able to attend these tours, which present
unique opportunities!
Term four of a school year is usually a very busy time with many functions and activities. I would like to draw the attention to two of these important activities:
Firstly, it is that time of the year when everybody becomes stressed about
the end-of-year exams. Children have received their study rosters which gives
them a guideline of what to study and how to manage their time whilst doing this. During this time learners will also have homework that will be an
extension on this roster, but also please make allowance for the teachers and
learners to ensure that learning takes place in class in order to complete the
curriculum.
The second important activity is our Annual General Meeting (AGM) that
takes place on 28th October 2015. It is important to attend this meeting as
feedback is given on our progress during 2015 and our plans for 2016. An
important part of the meeting is the approval of the budget for 2016 that
will enable you to vote on the school fees for the year 2016. I would like to
encourage you all to attend, as it provides you with an opportunity to be part
of your child/ childrens school life.
Thank you to Mr Barnard and Mr Cosh who spent many hours during the holiday
getting our pool ready for the swimming season that lies ahead. Also, thanks to Mrs.
Fyfe for the hours she spent on consolidating the proposed budget.
To all parents, children and my special team of teachers: may the fourth term be a
happy and successful one. ~ Mr Leon Botha

We were welcomed to Thaba Morula by our friendly instructors

and activities began straight away. A busy programme had been
prepared for the Grade 4s and the next three days would fly past
in a blur of excitement and fun. Some of the activities included obstacle courses, mud activities, zip lining, treasure hunts, a
game drive and stalk the lantern.
Team building was evident in many tasks and the Grade 4s learnt
valuable skills about working together and making new friends.
The learners were taken completely out of our comfort zones
and discovered how much fun can be had in the company of
new people.
It is clear that the Grade 4s had a fantastic time and they are
already eagerly talking about what to expect on Grade 5 tour
next year.
Thanks to the teachers who accompanied the Grade 4s and to
those who organised such a great experience.
Ms C. Midlane

This years Grade 5 tour to Drakensville Holiday Resort was, once

again, a great success.
The tour guides, the backdrop of the scenic mountain range,
amenities, exciting activities and much more, brought about the
right combination.
Thank you to all that made the Grade 5 tour truly enjoyable and
a great successes.
Mr ECM Bradley

Grade Seven learners enjoyed a fun-filled and thrilling experience

at Swadini.
River Rafting , making their own potjie, The Waterfall, paint ball
were just some of the activities that they did.
I commend the Grade Sevens on their excellent behaviour and I
thank the staff for taking care of our learners.
Mrs S Lutawan

I have to congratulate the children on their conduct and

their keen ear for interesting facts and historical literature
throughout the tour. The children enjoyed the night activities,
bridge building and leadership challenges which they did along
the mountainous terrain.
A highlight of the camp most certainly was swimming in the
river and playing Stalk the Lantern. They showed great talent
during the camp concert and we believe the students have created some fond memories on camp.
It is with immense gratitude that I thank the staff who accompanied me, Mrs Phyfer, Ms Hartog, Mr Moodley and Mr Mbatha. Your support and everlasting assistance at every turn never
went unnoticed.
May this highly enjoyable and informative tour continue for
years to come!

In case you havent heard of MySchool, its an incredibly simple way

of raising funds for the school. It will cost you nothing and requires
absolutely no effort on your behalf other than to have the card
swiped when shopping at these outlets.

The result will be that some of the money you spend will find its
way back to the school. The card will also make you eligible for certain specials offered by these stores which you would not otherwise
qualify for.
So youll benefit and the children will benefit through the funds
which will go back into the school.
Thank you for taking the time to fill out the form and for using the
card! Each child may return as many completed forms as they like.
Extra forms are available from Mrs Savary (Grade 5) or at www.myschool.co.za
And if you already have a card, remember to keep swiping.
Many thanks for all your support,
