Key Operational achievements

Re-packaged and promoted the non-classified product range, via a national


programme of sales training presentations and workshops. Result: revenues
increased from £4.5m to £7m over a 9 year period.

Post sales management and development of a new Direct Mail initiative. Responsible
for ensuring 200 million items were processed and delivered annually.

Introduced a new fulfilment stock control system, which resulted in an 85% reduction
in book wastage, saving £600k over a 3-year period.

Launched a formal print tender process that guaranteed one year fixed prices. Result:
Simplified supplier base and 20% saving in year 1.

Increased print revenues from £50k to £1m annually by simplifying pricing options for
customers.

Established a productivity system which reduced turnaround from 20 days to 3 days.


Output was increased by 20% coupled with an 80% reduction in overtime.

Developed databases for recording key statistical information. These were critical for
benchmarking companies at contract reviews.

Publishing Operations Manager - Yell Ltd - 1998-2009

Developed operational strategies and new product initiatives from pre-press through
to final distribution.
Managed contractors responsible for Print (£1m), Direct Mail (£2m), Primary
distribution (£4m) and Secondary distribution (£1.8m). Administered non-classified
product inventory (annual revenue £7m+).
Document and data management, policy administration, invoice verification, purchase
requisition and detailed activity reporting on a weekly / monthly basis.
Liaised with project managers and key suppliers daily to achieve continuous
improvement.
Analysed and documented department functions into user-friendly process flow maps.
Conducted print quality audits.

Art Studio Supervisor - Yellow Pages Sales Ltd - 1989-1998

Supervised 9 artists who produced visuals, artworks and customer amendments.


Set and assessed team workloads, maximising use of human resources.
