Here is your opportunity to meet Steve

THERE was no time for lengthy
celebrations for Armidale mountain biker Katherine Hosking after taking out the Northern
Inland Academy of Sports
Female Athlete of the Year award
over the weekend.
The fifteen-year-old was
straight off to a training camp after her win on Sunday, honing
her skills on two wheels.
I have been lucky enough to
be selected to join a national
mountain biking team Torq
Merida Australia, Hosking said.
I am the most junior rider, so
I will be learning from riders
from my category to elites and
all the support staff.
Its pretty cool that Holly
Harris, three times national
champion, is also in the team.
Hollys sort of shown me and
the other Armidale riders whats
possible in mountain biking if
you put your mind to it.
The teenager was thrilled when
she was presented with the award
in Armidale over the weekend.
She said she was not expecting hear her name called
Last year I was nominated,
but didnt win, I was amazed at
what the other nominees and
winners had achieved and felt

quite inferior, Hosking said. I
have been lucky to be given great
opportunities and a lot of support by many people.
The award is sure to provide a
huge confidence boost for the
young rider, who dreams of taking her sport to an international
level in the future.
I am really keen to go to New
Zealand in March 2016 for the

Oceania Games and give the Kiwis

a run for their money, she said.
In the last Oceanias I had a
tough race and finished fourth
after a few crashes.
The Kiwis are definitely awesome mountain bikers and great
girls.
I love mountain biking and
would like to keep pushing and
training hard.
