Description
The Clipsal 56PEDD3 is designed to automatically switch lights ON at sunset and automatically switch lights
OFF at sunrise for domestic and commercial applications. When wired in accordance to regulatory wiring
rules, the 56PEDD3 can also be used to light advertising signs, security and garden lights around hotel,
motel, business or industrial premises.
The Clipsal 56PEDD3 is rated up to 10 Amps and is suitable for both incandescent and fluorescent loads.
Wiring of the unit requires direct connections to Active/Live and Neutral of mains supply. Connection to the
Earth conductor is not required.

Operation
The Clipsal 56PEDD3 turns on the loads automatically whenever the ambient light falls below a fixed
predetermined level no seasonal adjustment is necessary. This level is approximately 20 lux and is
around the normal official light up time. Lights turn ON automatically at sunset and remain ON until
daybreak or the ambient light is sufficiently bright. The 56PEDD3 also has built-in damping thresholds to
disregard changes in light level as the result of turning on the load. This prevents it from turning the load
OFF again.

Installation
The Clipsal 56PEDD3 can be installed in any outdoor location, on a flat surface, facing away from direct
sunlight or artificial light.
Although the 56PEDD3 has built-in damping thresholds, the installation of the unit should be such that it
does not directly face the load, which it controls. This is to prevent deactivation of the load due to feedback.
The 56PEDD3 should also be kept from exposure to direct sunlight as this may cause the unit to exceed its
maximum operating temperature. Such prolonged heating will degrade the performance of the product.
To retain its IP66 rating, when mounting the 56PEDD3 outdoors, all entries into the mounting box should be
sealed with silicon sealant.
