UNITS OF LEARNING: Unit 6 I dont like Science, its boring!
MAIN FOCUS: grammar (present simple for routines, adverbs of
frequency), vocabulary (school subjects, telling the time, time expressions
with in/on/at), reading (for specific information), listening (for specific
information), writing (about favourite day of the week).
TIME: 50 minutes
DATE: 13th March
GENERAL AIMS OF THE TEST:
1. To give the teacher and the students information concerning the students
progress;
2. To indentify any areas of difficulty and weakness which might need
remedial work;
3. To give the teacher feedback on the effectiveness of her teaching;
4. To give the students additional motivation to study thoroughly.
SPECIFIC GOALS OF THE TEST:
Grammar
To have Ss complete a text with the present simple forms of the verbs in
brackets (affirmative or negative); to have Ss write sentences about
someones routine activities (based on a listening input), using the present
simple and adverbs of frequency.
Vocabulary
To have Ss match clock times in numbers to their correspondents written in
letters.
To have Ss complete sentences with school subjects given in a table.
To have Ss fill in a text with the correct prepositions in/on/at, used before
various time expressions.

Reading
To have Ss read a text and write yes or no next to sentences referring back
to specific information from the given text.
Listening
To have Ss listen to a radio interview with a woman named Laura, who
speaks about the activities she performs on her day off, Sunday. Ss are given
a table in which they have to tick how often she does these activities
(always, sometimes, never etc.)
Writing
To have Ss practise the use of adverbs of frequency and the present simple
by writing complete sentences about someones routine activities on a
particular day of the week, based on a model sentence.
To have Ss write a short composition, based on a plan, explaining what their
favourite day of the week is and what type of activities they usually do on
this day.
SCORES:
A Vocabulary (14 marks): I. half a mark for each correct matching (6 times x
0.5 mark = 3 marks in total); II. one mark for each sentence filled in with the
correct school subject (6 sentences x 1 mark = 6 marks); III. half mark for each
blank filled in with the correct preposition (10 blanks x 0.5 mark = 5 marks).
B Grammar / Reading (10 marks): I. half a mark for each correct form of the
verbs (10 verbs x 0.5 mark = 5 marks); II. one mark for each correct yes/no
answer (5 sentences x one mark = 5 marks)
C Grammar / Listening / Writing (10 marks): I. one mark for each correct
tick in the table (5 ticks x 1 mark = 5 marks); II. one mark for each sentence
written correctly (5 sentences x 1 mark = 5 marks).
D - Writing: 6 marks, distributed as follows:
2 marks content and style;
0.5 mark layout and organization;
1 mark vocabulary;
1.5 marks grammar;
1 mark spelling and punctuation
