Movement: The film opening
starts with the camera slowly
moving downwards revealing
what looks like an edited
circle/orb object. It has the
directors name in the centre. It
is an extreme close up of a
mysterious object. This
straightaway highlights the
genre and confusion and
suspense is raised.

Sound Dialogue/Music/Sound
FX: There is no actual music or
dialogue in the opening so far,
only a non-diegetic eerie sound
in the background which sounds
like the start to a song. The
pitch of the note is fairly high
which makes it sound scary and
puts the viewer on edge.

Movement: In this shot it is
revealed that the mysterious
orb object is actually a light. The
camera rotates 180 degrees in
this shot and also begins to
move downwards. The
directors name slowly fades out
making it evident that the
object is a light. The camera
doesnt zoom in or out
throughout this clip.

Sound Dialogue/Music/Sound
FX: The same non-diegetic
music is also used in this part of
the film opening. But now it
sounds more like a haunting
song rather than sounding like
an eerie note of music. This
music stays the same and is
continuous throughout a large
portion of the opening.

Movement: In this clip the
camera is slowly panning down
the room revealing a young boy
lying in his bed. He is looking
directly at the camera, which
makes the viewer confused as
to why he would be alone in
bed at night looking straight
ahead of him. The camera then
carries on into the next shot
without cutting and editing
clops together.

Sound Dialogue/Music/Sound
FX: There is still the same non-
diegetic music in the
background in this part of the
opening

Shot No/Type of shot/Camera/

Movement: The opening is one
long continuous shit, meaning
that it is not lots of short clips
that has b een edited together
to be one. It is a continuous
flowing clip. This particular part
shows what looks like a kitchen,
with the figure of a woman
behind the curtains. The camera
then slowly pans round to the
right and goes through a
doorway. The lighting is very
dark creating a scary vibe.

Movement: In this part of the
film opening the camera is
slowly moving towards what
looks like a doll/ghost/demon. It
looks like the camera is zooming
towards her face in this clip. It
starts of as a long shot and ends
up as a close up so that we can
see detail in the demons face.
The lighting in this shot is
extremely dark; we can only see
the demon as they are holding a
candle under their chin.

Sound Dialogue/Music/Sound
FX: There is still no dialogue so
far in the opening. The music
has increased in tempo and
sounds very dramatic as we see
the scary demon. This makes
the viewer feel like something
bad is going to happen as the
music intensifies

Movement: In this clip of the
opening it starts as a black
screen. The title Insidious then
quickly pops up as if to make
the viewer jump. This highlights
the genre of the film as horror
films typically make the viewer
or the audience jump. The title
is red, which is associated with
blood and the colour of evil. The
font of the title is also very old
fashioned maybe highlighting
the era that the film is set in.

Sound Dialogue/Music/Sound
FX: The sound in this clip starts
off as a silence. A loud noise
that sounds slightly like
screaming is introduced at the
same time that the title pops
up. There is no dialogue at all
throughout the film opening,
making the viewer feel
confusion and creates mystery
as to what is going on.
