PEOPLE

#1
McDonalds strives to create a work environment where everyone can expect to be
treated equally with dignity and respect. We actively encourage all team members
to promote a friendly, respectful workplace and to discourage any behavior that
might cause hurt or embarrassment to others. Likewise when it comes to
development opportunities, individuals are evaluated on their performance and
promotion is based on merit. Employment, promotions and training are not
determined by age, race, color, sex, appearance, religion, marital or parental
status, sexual preference, disability, impairment or national origin. Everyone is
evaluated on their performance.

In support of Republic Act 9211, SM malls implement a no-smoking campaign
aimed at improving air quality by reducing pollution.

Moreover, all transport

operators that utilize SM transport bays are required to submit emission test
certificates. This is in line with how SM malls deliberately control and measure their
emissions. Through the Mall Logistics Program, tenants are invited to join efforts in
reducing carbon emissions.
PLANET
SMs property group has also taken a comprehensive approach on solid waste
management through waste segregation, materials recovery and in Hamilo Coast,
residual site management. SM malls recycle 44% of their generated solid waste,

with the remainder being delivered to only government accredited landfills and
garbage disposal facilities. The malls continuously monitor their waste generation.
Under the Tenant Solid Waste Management Program, tenants are required to
segregate their water before collection and storage in materials recovery facilities
prior to the collection done by government certified haulers.
In an effort to help minimize trash and promote recycling, SM malls created
the Trash to Cash Campaign, wherein people are encouraged to exchange their
recyclable materials for cash every first weekend of the month in all SM malls. In
2009, the SM Food Retail Group launched the Join the M.O.B. Campaign that aims
to change consumers single-use, throw-away attitude towards plastic bags by
replacing them with re-usable bags for shopping.
