2. To provide proper facilities for the consumption of alcoholic beverages within the campus, and to

3. The Pub was to be viewed as a not-for-profit organization, which would enhance the University
Centre complex's portfolio of activities within its ambit.
Policies:
The manager of The Pub came up with certain policies governing the behaviour of the patrons in the
Pub. There were different categories concerning how long a patron could be barred from the premises.
These are:
(A)One night eviction
(B) Three [academic] week eviction
(C) Three to six [academic] month eviction
(D) One year eviction
(E) Permanent eviction
The different types of offences for which the above applied can be summarised as follows:
Accessing or Attempting to Access a Restricted Area: Patrons are not expected to enter certain areas
and it carries a minimum sanction of (B) going up to (D) in case of theft.
Breakage of Bottles/Glasses: Can be ignored by staff if thought to be accidental. In other cases it
attracts sanctions depending on the nature of intent.

Conduct Unbecoming - Includes but is not limited to crowd surfing/unnecessary violence on the
dance floor, getting into arguments with other patrons: It includes disrupting peace and hooliganism,
minor vandalism, destruction of property etc. Barring provisions apply depending on nature and intent
of behaviour.
Drinking and Driving: A minimum of (C) and a maximum of (E) was attracted by such behaviour
which threatens the drinker as well as others.
Drinking After Being Cut Off: It includes drinking after being told not to do so or giving drinks to
someone else. It attracted a standard sanction of (B).
Loaning Identification Cards: Giving ID cards to others students resulted in a standard (B).
Smuggling Alcohol: Patrons smuggling in alcohol to the premises would have their alcohol
confiscated and given a sanction of (D).
Use or Possession of Illicit/Illegal Drugs: Patrons caught with illicit substances were given a
minimum of (C) and (E) for repeat offence. Moreover, they were referred to the Security Department
of the University.
