Dear Readers this was actually

written by my friend with my help at the
story and playenvironment side so the
whole credit can never be with me, this
story starts in a village......!!! i do not
wish to elaborate and here ends the
intro...!!

Story:
Narrator: Hello friends. As we all know, modern period has
brought a lot of changes in our lifestyle. In farming, organic
farming has disappeared and green revolution introduced by Sir
Norman Borlag started spreading. This skit reflects the lives of
common people. So watch and enjoy.
SCENE 1
Narrator: This story is about a village named Sripuram. Firstly
we will see villagers at that long ago periods of 1950s.
Villager 1: Look at our fields. All crops became dry. No water.
All we can do is to look gloomily at the sky. Oh Lord, I don’t
know what is going to happen.
Villager 2: Be positive my dear friend. Nothing bad will happen.
Our country just got freedom from British. After some years,
something to our relief will happen.
Villager 1: But our citizens still did not fully recover from the
atrocities we faced from British. And my cows are dying because
of famine.
(VILLAGE HEAD ENTERS. TWO VILLAGERS STAND TO SHOW RESPECT)
Village Head: Good morning my friends. Why such sad faces?
Villager 1: Good morning Ji. Haven’t you seen the sad conditions
of our village? No rain, consequent famines, what to do? And
people are dying in millions.
Village Head: I too am aware of it. Well, Lord has given us hope.
Let us hope that generations to come will find a solution for it.
So, HAIL THE NAME OF THE CREATOR!
(The other two villagers does the same and departs)
Narrator: So we have seen the atrocities we had to face in the
20th century. I am sure you are eager to watch what happened in
the future. So the 21st century……
SCENE 2
(Two farmers enter the stage. They both look too happy)
Bhimrao: Whoa, today’s collection is great. After two or three
months, I will be the richest farmer in Sripuram! Then I will be
envied upon by my rivals.
Shivchand: Hey Bhimrao, how are you? You look so happy. What’s
the matter?
Bhimrao: Nothing too much Shivchand. Today’s sugarcane selling
gained me a lot of money.
Shivchand: Whoa that’s great news.
(Dr. Nath and his fellow enters)
Bhimrao: Hi, Dr. Nath. How are you?
Dr. Nath: Fine thank you sir. You look so happy. I heard your
today’s collection was good.
Bhimrao: Yes you are right. And the credit goes to my Chemical
fertilizers and pesticides. Now a days, farmers can get good
yields only through HYV seeds.
Dr.Nath: But sir, I suppose organic farming is the one that is
safer.
Bhimrao: Don’t say rubbish doctor! By this farming method we can
yield lot of crops and money.
Dr. Sam: Sir, it can deplete soil and also kill birds that helps
in seed dispersion.
Bhimrao: Hey, you shut up; I am talking to doctor Nath, not you.
OKAY?
Dr.Nath: Sir, but what Dr. Sam said is right.
Bhimrao: No, I won’t listen; through this I will become the
richest farmer in Sripuram. That’s it!
(Bhimrao departs along with Shivchand)
Dr. Nath: Dr. Sam, but that’s his nature. I’m sorry.
Dr. Sam: It’s alright sir.
SCENE 3
Narrator: So friends, we saw the influence of green revolution
among Indian farmers. They have forgotten their old culture and
tradition. Bhimrao and other farmers continuously used
pesticides, weedicides and chemical fertilizers to obtain good
yields. As a result let us see what happened…..
(Bhimrao and some of the villagers are waiting eagerly in Dr.
Nath’s clinic. Dr. Nath comes out)
Bhimrao: Dr. Nath, please tell me, what happened to my son?
Dr.Nath: Not to worry. He is alright. It is just stomach
infection because he drunk contaminated water. And haven’t you
noted, aquatic animals are floating dead on water. All these are
interlinked. Dr. Sam will help me in explaining it to you.
Dr.Sam: Mr. Bhimrao, have you ever heard of a process named
eutrophication? Well, we will explain it to you. You see, the
fertilizers you have used on plants remain there for some time.
During rainy season, it will be washed into nearby water bodies.
Dr.Nath: These fertilizers will help the algae in lakes to grow
by providing sufficient nutrients. Another part will get mixed in
water and will contaminate it. In the death of algae, bacteria
decompose it and during the process a lot of oxygen is being
used. Thus aquatic organisms will die. Your son and other
children only drank it.
Bhimrao: Oh, God. What a sinner I am!
Dr.Nath: So, promise to me that you will stick on to organic
farming only and will spread awareness.
Bhimrao: I promise.
Narrator: Thus Dr.Nath along the assistance of Dr.Sam found the
factory that produced such toxic chemicals and disposed them
openly. They filed a case against them. So the scene changes to a
court.
SCENE 4
Justice: Yes, proceed.
Prosecution lawyer: Your honour, the case regards with illegal
usage of highly toxic chemicals and its open disposal by Vidya
Fertilizers. It is easily clear that my client, Mr. Nath is
absolutely right. The toxical wastes released by the company are
responsible for the millions of cattle deaths and pollution of
rivers. So please issue the order to the immediate closure of the
factory, your honour.
Defense Lawyer: I object, your honour. Vidya Fertilizers is a
sincerely working company which only served the country and
helped our country for development. Its wastes are chemically
treated before it is disposed openly.
Prosecution lawyer: Your honour, the defense Lawyer is partially
right. They, in the name of treating the chemicals, they are just
disposing it openly in water thus becoming a threat to aquatic
animals and water bodies. Also, many people are dependant on it
for fulfilling their every day needs.
Defense Lawyer: I object, your honour.
Justice: Objection sustained.
Prosecution lawyer: Thank you, your honour. I have strong
evidences to support my statement. Usage of Vidya Fertilizers
have caused an adverse effect on water bodies and many children
are suffering from that and farmers like Bhimrao‘s land had been
totally depleted. And as defense lawyer says, development is
necessary, but it should not be in the cost of environment. So
please issue the order for the immediate closure of Vidya
fertilizers. That’s all your honour.
Justice: The Defense has failed to prove its innocence. On the
thorough basis of the evidences this court hereby announces to
the closure of the factory.
