ArtCLima, art in climate change, Lima-Paris Route

1. WHAT IS ARTCLIMA?
ArtCLima is an art contest launched by the Ministry of Environment. It is aimed at
national artists interested in the issue of climate change and who work in any of the
visual arts disciplines.

2. CAN AN ART GROUP PARTICIPATE WITH A PROJECT?


Artistic duos or groups can participate with a single project. The important thing is to
note that if winning the contest, the prize is intended for only one trip to Paris.
Therefore, it is important to note that the submitted project should be implemented
in Paris by only one member.

3. CAN A PROJECT THAT HAS ALREADY BEEN EXHIBITED OR PERFORMED


PARTICIPATE?
Yes, the competition is not exclusive for unpublished projects within ArtCLima. You
can participate with a project that has previously been presented or exposed before
the competition. The important thing is that it is relevant to the competition subject.

4. ARE PAST PROJECTS IN THE ARTISTIC PORTFOLIO OF WORKS REQUIRED TO


HAVE A CONNECTION WITH THE ISSUE OF CLIMATE CHANGE?
It is not a prerequisite. However if you have projects related to environmental issues
and climate change, it will be important that you include for the jury to know that
these are matters that have interested you before.

5. ARE PUBLIC SPACE PROJECTS ADMITTED?

Yes, projects designed for indoor display (such as a gallery or exhibition hall) and
public display are admitted. It is important to point out in the project description if is
designed for public space.

6. IF MY PROJECT WINS, WILL I HAVE TO MANAGE AND ORGANIZE THE TRIP


AND EXHIBIT?
No, travel logistics and project presentation in Paris will be in charge of the
competition organizers in coordination with the winner. Once the winning project is
chosen, the best place to display it is defined according to its format.

7. IS IT NECESSARY TO SPEAK FRENCH?


No, it is not necessary to speak French. If necessary, we will coordinate for the
winning artist traveling to Paris, to have an assistant to help in both assembly and
logistics for communication.

8. WHAT CAN THE FORMAT WORK BE?


The work format is free. However, it should take into account the logistical and
budgetary possibilities that transfer (if the work was produced in Peru) and mounting
can entail in Paris.

9. WHICH WOULD BE THE ARTISTS TRAVEL AND WORK TRANSPORTATION


DATES?
The artist will travel to Paris as part of the COP21, i.e. between November 30 and
December11, during the days of greater public exposure and to participate in dialogue
spaces for civil society.
The work must be taken to Paris or produced there to be exhibited during the COP
days. According to the characteristics of the winning project, the possible return of
the work to Peru will be coordinated within the prize budget.
