TECHNICAL SPECIFICATION MECHANICAL WORKS

1. PLUMBING
1.

GENERAL
The overall work is the procurement, transportation, manufacturing, installation, equipmentequipment main and auxiliary materials as well as testing, in order to obtain a complete and well
installation in accordance with the Specifications, Drawings and Bill Of Quantity.

2.

SCOPE OF WORK
The scope of work in outline as follows Plumbing system (Clean Water Piping Work). The work
shall consist of furnishing and installing all clean water system including piping, pump, support
and accessories as specified here in or as shown in the Drawings.

3.

REFERENCES/ STANDARD
References and standard include the following codes shall be used for design, fabrication,
inspection, testing and acceptance of clean water piping work based on national and/or local
regulations and requirements:
2.1 Standard National Indonesia (SNI).
- SNI0368412000 Sistem Plambing.
1 American Society of Mechanical Enginerr (ASME).
- ASME B3 1.1. Power Piping
- ASME B3 1.3. Process Piping
- ASME B7 3.1. Standard Chemical/ Industrial Process Pump.

4.

GENERAL PROCEDURES
4.1 Technical Data
4.1.1
Technical data of all Clean Water pumps, piping and accessories as
specified shall be submitted to the Project Manager for approval prior to
delivery.
4.1.2
Technical data shall include all detailed information of type/model,
capacity, installation manual, dimension and other characteristics required.
4.2 Shop Drawings
4.2.1

The Contractor shall check all dimensions from the Drawings with the site condition.
No claims will be allowed arising from slight discrepancies between Drawings of other
disciplines and/or measurements taken at the site of the project. The Contractor shall
obtain this information from the Project Manager before proceeding with any Shop
Drawings.

4.2.2

Shop Drawings shall be submitted to the Project Manager for approval prior to
installation. Shop Drawings shall contain type/model, dimensions, sizes, layouts and
other required and detailed information. All documents shall be drawn up in accordance
with models submitted to and approved by the Project Manager.

4.2.3

The Drawings generally indicate the location of materials and equipment, cable and
piping lane, and connections. These Drawings shall be followed as closely as possible.
The Architectural, Structural and other Drawings of related trades and all elements shall
be checked for dimensions and clearances in preparing Shop Drawings.

4.2.4

The Contractor shall carefully check space requirements with other Contractors which
might work at the same location to ensure that all equipment can be installed in the
spaces allocated for them.

4.3 Delivery and Storage


4.3.1

All materials and equipment to be delivered shall be in good condition, new,


free from any defect, and shall be completed with labels, technical data, mill
certificate and other data required as specified.

4.3.2

All materials and equipment shall be orderly, kept in their packages and shall
be kept free from damage and humidity.

4.4 Non Conformity


4.4.1
The Project Manager has the right to reject any material delivered or
installed which does not comply with the specified Drawings and/or
Specifications.The Contractor shall immediately correct and/or replace any
work deemed inferior by the Project Manager without any cost to the Owner.
4.4.2
If the submittal differs from the requirements of the contract
documents, the Contractor shall make specific mention of such differences in
a letter, with a request for substitution, together with its reason for this, in
order that, if acceptable, suitable action may be taken for proper adjustment
otherwise, Contractor will not be relieved of the responsibility for executing
the work in accordance with the Drawings and the Specification.
4.5 Drawings
The Contract Drawings and the Specifications are complementary to each other, and
any labour or material called for by either or both, if necessary for the successful
operation of any particular type of equipment furnished under this Contract, shall be
supplied and installed without additional cost to the Owner.
4.6 Guarantee
The Contractor shall furnish to the Owner a written guarantee covering the satisfactory
operation of the fire fighting installation in all its parts for a period of one year after date
of final acceptance. During this period the Contractor shall repair or replace any
defective work and pay any repair or replacement costs.
5.

MATERIALS
5.1 General
All materials and equipment furnished shall be brand new and of acceptable quality, and
approved by the Project Manager.

5.2 Pipes and Fittings

Pipes for fire water shall be galvanized of schedule 40 conforming to ASTM A 53


Grade B, such as manufactured by Spindo, PPI, Bakrie or approved equal.
All pipes and fittings such as elbow, tee, reducer, tee-reducer and others with
diameter up to 65mm shall be threaded carbon steel while fittings larger than 65mm

shall be furnished with flanges as specified in this Specification.


Fittings of electric butt-welding shall be fabricated conforming to AWWA C 208.
Fittings shall be of the same class with the related pipes and shall be new and of
acceptable quality.

5.3 Piping Appurtenances


5.3.1

Flanges

Flanges shall be ANSI B 16.5 class 150 raised face and shall comply with
ASTM A-105. Flange of slip-on type shall have diameter as specified by
equipment that shall be connected.
5.3.2

Packing/Gasket/ Sealing Ring

a) Unless otherwise specified, packing/gasket/sealing ring for compressed air


piping shall be of ANSI 150 class, made of oil resistant and asbestos free
material of minimum 3mm thickness.
b) Sizes of packing/ gasket/sealing ring shall be as specified by the required
flanges. The necessary amount plus 10% additional of packing shall be
supplied.
5.4 Valves
5.4.1

Valves
a)

All valves with working pressure of 10kg/cm (150psi), shall be new, unused
product of reputable and experienced manufacturers, and all valves of the same
type as far as possible shall be of one manufacturer.
b) All valves shall be made of cast iron material complying with ASTM A 126 Class
B, or approved equal. All valves shall have names manufacturer, working
pressure, diameter and direction of flow on the body.
c) All valves shall be complete and ready for operation with all components and
accessories in accordance with the applicable standards and codes, and shall be
capable of long, reliable, trouble free service and shall require minimum
maintenance.
d) Valves of diameter up to 65mm shall have tapered threads for screwed joint.
e) Valves of diameter larger than 65mm shall be manual operated type, and shall be
furnished with flanges conforming to ANSI B 16.1 CL 125, forged integrally with
valves' body.
f) Manufacturer by (SCI) Siam Cast Iron Works Co. Ltd., KITZ or approved equal.

5.4.2

Gate Valve
Gate valve shall be outside screw and yoke (OS&Y) type.

5.4.3

Check Valve
Check valve shall be anti-water hammer type with working pressure minimum of
10kg/cm.

5.4.4

Air Release Valve


Air release valve shall have stainless steel float Air release valves and the air release
mechanism of combination valves shall be designed to open positively and vent air to

the atmosphere at system pressures up to the maximum working pressure. Orifices


shall be sized accordingly.

5.4.5

Safety Valve/Pressure Release Valve.


Safety valve shall have adjustable pressure with maximum pressure of 10 kg/cm.

5.4.6

Pressure Gauge.
Bourdon tube pressure gauge shall be stainless steel construction of 15 mm pipe size,
100 mm diameter and 0-300 psi pressure scale. Pressure gauge shall be equipped with
bronze ball valve.
