UNILAB BMCTank is the software developed by UNILAB. This tool allows the calculation of bulk milk tank coolers, using
the pillow plate heat exchanger typology.
The term BMCTank (Bulk Milk Cooler Tank) refers to a family of applications for the cooling of batches of milk or other
edible fluids such as fruit juices, grape juice, etc. In general the fluid cooling happens in 2 phases: in the morning the tank is
half filled, then the machine brings the temperature of that liquid down from 35 C to 4 C in a certain length of time. In the
evening, to the original volume of liquid whose temperature is maintained at 4 C an equal volume with a temperature of
35 C is then added. Our program automatically calculates the average temperature of the total volume.
Furthermore the user can also adjust the temperature, for example
to make sure that the equipment complies with regulation ENV328, which specifies that the total volume of milk must be reduced from 10 C to 4 C in a maximum time of an hour and a half.
During the calculation of the capacity required, consideration is
given to the number of mixers and their size. The application can
indicate the required capacity of the motor-condensation unit and
divide the plate into two or more circuits, to connect to different
motor-condensation units.
