Ginia Forrester of Ann Arbor, Michigan, designed and made this quilt as a
result of a challenge in her guild. Each participant drew a crayon from a
paper bag and made a quilt using that color, white and gray. Forrester used
fabric from the Citrus collection by Another Point of View for Windham
Fabrics, the Cotton Couture collection by Michael Miller Fabrics and Kona
Cotton from Robert Kaufman Fabrics to make Tangerine.
ASSEMBLY

1 Wash, starch and press

fabrics. Cut the patches listed
in the materials and cutting
box and shown in the rotary
cutting diagrams. Note that
the orange stripe Bs are placed
so the stripes are perpendicular to the edge of A they are
stitched to. Referring to Figs. 1
and 2, note that the diagonal
on which a striped square is
cut affects the direction of
the stripes on the 2 resulting triangles. Referring to the
rotary cutting diagram, cut 4
orange stripe 4M squares. Cut

two in half along one diagonal

as shown. Cut the other two
in half along the opposite
diagonal. This will yield 8 Bs.
2 Lightly mark a diagonal line
from corner to corner on a
white solid C. Referring to Fig.
3, place the C on one end of
an orange plaid D, right sides
together. Stitch on the marked
line and trim the seam allowance to . Press the C open.
In the same manner, referring
to Fig. 4, join a white C to the
other end of the D and trim to
make a unit 1. Make 16.

In a similar manner, and referring to the unit 2 diagram for

color placement, make 16 unit
2s.

3 Referring to the block

piecing diagram, join a unit 1
and a unit 2 to make a block.
Make 16.
