The canvas/batting piece is now on the WRONG side of the lining piece 8. ¥ Lay the completed pouch (A pieces) on top of the lining piece B so the lining fabries are RIGHT sides together. Match up the bottom curves and pin in piace around sides and bottom of pouch. ¥ Stitching about 1/8" from the raw edge sew around sides and bottom of the completed piece A attaching it to lining piece B (see dotted line in photo) 6. Create Loop Closure Find the center of top of the focus fabric piece B and mark it by inserting a pin or using a tabric marker or chalk to mark, Fold the cut ends of the elastic piece together to create loop and then hand sew through both ends as close to the ends as you can, Y Wrap the thread around the loop bottom several times and then push needle through the center to stabilize it. ¥ Insert needle with attached thread and loop through the center mark on focus fabric piece B about 1/8” from the raw edge. The loop needs to be facing downward as shown in the photo. Use a few stitches to hold it firmly in place. Tie off and snip thread, 7. Attach Back V Lay the lining piece B with the attached pouch RIGHT side up. Place the focus fabric piece B face down on top so the focus fabric piece Bis RIGHT side together with the lining piece B with attached pouch. ¥ Decide where you will open your clutch to turn it right side out at the end. This isa fairly easy place to turn, but will be very small on the Mini Clutch size. 2. The side of the top. This is the ideal spot to turn but also the most challenging because it has the least ;oom for your opening. 3. The bottom. This is the easiest spot to ‘open and turn, but you may want to topstitch all the way around your finished clutch if you turn here in order to provide additional stability at the bottom. ¥ Stitch around the outside leaving a place to turn your clutch RIGHT side out at the spot you ; pickedin the previous step. Tip: A great way to Back fitch Back stitch make nice crease to act as a guide for hand = a stitching your opening closed is to sew the opening closed first. Back stitch at the top of Lengthen stitch where your opening willbe, then lengthen your stitch and sew to the end of the opening, and then beck stitch again. Y¥ Clip or natch curves. If you've ‘stitched your opening closed as suggested above go ahead and press this seam open and then remove the long stitches between back stitching. ¥ Tur the clutch RIGHT side out through the opening. 8. Stitch Opening Closed Te: Adltional photos ofthe basic slip. stitch can be lotr on bog V Thread a hand sewing needle and tie a knot in the end. Insert your needle from the underside of the crease coming out on the RIGHT side of the fabric. Pull the thread through so the knot is resting on the back side of the crease out of sight. ¥ Onthe opposite side of the opening insert the needle through the fabric and then go to the left or right along the under side of the fabric about "4" and come out on the RIGHT side of the fabric, Page 4 of 8 Para COMPARTIR, for SHARED Para COMPARTIR ¥ Again insert the needle on the opposite side and sew another stitch. Repeat stitches until the opening closed, Tie the thread off and snip. 9. Finishing ¥ Top stitch around the flap (or all the way around the clutch if you've opened at the bottom), Tip: It is helpful to push the pouch to the side so it doesn't get in the way while top stitching—see photo. ¥ Fold down the flap and mark the bution placement using a pin or fabric marker/chalk. ¥ Hand stitch the button to the front and clip any stray threads, “COPYRIGHT INFORMATION** ‘© 2009 Keyka Lou.
