Introduction

When we say organizational behavior, it is a field of study that deals with the human
behavior that focuses on the significance on how to move people to act effectively to
improve the existing condition in the society. Today, the most pressing issue that
needs to be taken seriously and act upon immediately is domestic violence. To check
the growing threat of the problem and minimize if not totally end its continuing havoc
on the development of the society, a comprehensive research must be conducted to
better understand the problem and create strategies and solutions to benefit the not
only the victims but the community as a whole. However, ethical issues must be
strictly observed and complied with so that the result of the study will be valid and
credible.
As for domestic violence, it is a challenge that the society must face because it will
define the strength or the weakness of its organizational behavior. It is a global
problem today because every nation of the world, from the most developed to the
poorest, had their own devastating cases of domestic violence with scores of victims,
regardless of sex, age, social and economic status, religion and culture, scarred for
the rest of their lives if appropriate actions and support are not extended to them
immediately, and the development of the community where they belong, in a stand
still. Effective strategies and strong policies against domestic violence must be
formulated to control the growing problem.
Tashakkori (2003), an expert on social and behavioral research, said that the most
important goal of organizational behavior study is to comprehend the complex
concept of societal behavior and experience, and it is in this context that domestic
violence must be taken into consideration. Today, it occurs in many forms. Before,
society only equates domestic violence with physical and verbal abuse of the victims,
but with the changing times and behavior of the people, a new form surfaced which is
now known as coercive control. Experts called it the most devastating form of abuse
because the victims are subjected to self-demeaning subordination and dependence
by their abusers. In short, the abusers gaining power over the independence
(psychological, emotional and financial or economic) of the victims.
With the growing global awareness on the seriousness of the problem, authorities and
policy makers in every nation explore ways and enact policies and laws to address the
issue of domestic violence. Women and young children, the usual victims of abuse
were given priority concern and the stigma and shame they bear from their ordeal
dealt with the utmost sensitivity.
Developing mechanisms to achieve the universal goal of minimizing incidents of
domestic violence must be a priority action. With the family where abuse usually
occurs, as its fundamental unit, society must be involved in curbing the problem.
Creating awareness and educating the community will be the initial steps to be taken

to approach the issue. Early detection of abuse within the system will be a significant
factor in addressing the situation and providing immediate and appropriate actions to
benefit the victims, which
