Writing Group Project Proposal & Interface Design
PART I

1.0 Introduction
In this assignment, each group of students (maximum of 4 students per group) is required
to write a proposal of an online organizer. The online organizer should provide a
convenient way to take notes, manage contacts, keep a calendar, make to do lists, and
more depend to your own creativity. This organizer is developed to help student FTMK
to manage their time.
2.0 Objectives
To propose an online organizer website with functions needed for student FTMK.
3.0 Documentation Standards
Write your portal proposal according the Project Profiler as follows:

a) Background

Give brief introduction about online organizer website development


What is the origin of the proposal - the particular problem or issue is addressed.
Include contact information and a description of the group who will be working
on the project.
i. Who are the decision makers?
ii. Who's responsible for what?
iii. What human resources do you have for various stages of the process?

b) Problem Statement

Please provide corporate and industry descriptions, including competitors, along


with a brief critique of their sites.

c) Goal

What is the mission statement or summary of your project?


(e.g.,
branding/identity reinforcement, improved access to information, corporate
communication, etc.)

d) Objectives

List tasks that must be done toward designing and developing a new online
organizer application.

e) Expected results

What is the proposal expected to produce in terms of specific results?


Who will benefit and who is expected to pay for this?

f) Requirement analysis

Hardware and software requirements


o Web server, operating system, client-side technology, server site
extension, database, hardware etc.
Audience
o What types of visitors do you want to attract?
o What are your goals for each type of visitor? What are the
products/services involved?
o What are your goals for these products/services?
Content
o Where will content come from?
o Will it be new, repurposed, or both?
o How often will you add new content?
o Who will update the content?
Functionality
o What functional requirements do you believe to be necessary? (e.g.,
database-driven web pages, online classified advertisements, productpurchase capabilities, content management, online payment, etc.)
o Are there extraordinary security issues?
o Are there other technical issues or limitations?
o How will be the site served/hosted?
o What types of legacy systems/databases are in place?
o What is your long-term plan for the site?

Site Information Structure


o There are many structures that could be applied to website architectures
such as linear, cluster, hierarchical, tutorial, web structure and so on.
o Include an overall structure of the application that you are going to
develop.

g) Project implementation and management

How will the project be carried out, in terms of a work plan, schedule of activities,
and parties responsible for implementation management?
Gantt chart is recommended!

h) Conclusion

Benefits that end-user can gain from your website.

PART II
You need to design and develop interface for your online magazines using Adobe
Dreamweaver and Adobe Flash. Web development language is XHTML and CSS.

Create animated pages for the first page of your website using Adobe Flash.
Create another pages using Adobe Dreamweaver and link all the pages together. You must
have a total of at least FIVE (5) static pages and ONE (1) pages of form.

Registering a Free Hosting Package On The Web.


1. Using your browser access to www.bravenet.com or any free hosting web server.
2. Your task is to become a bravenet free member.
3. Upload your website source file to Bravenet hosting server.
4. Submit your URL to your lecturer using padlet. www.padlet.com/projectDITM2123

1.0 Grading Criteria


a) Here are some of the things that will be looking for when grading your proposal
and interfaces:

Give well organized and comprehensive write-up


Error free - spelling, grammar
Extra features which are not mentioned in Project Profiler section

b) This assignment is worth 10% of your assignment grade; your assignment grade,
you will recall, is worth 10% of the total for the course. I will grade the
assignment on a scale of 0 100 points, as follows:
10 points for the background of the project
10 points for the problem statement
10 points for the goal and objectives
5 points for the expected results
20 points for the requirement analysis
10 points for project implementation and management
35 point interface design

2.0 Some Reminders


Late homework will NOT be accepted!
Submission procedure:
Hand in hard-copy of your document (PART I) AND
Make sure your pages ready on any free hosting web server AND
Write your group member details and URL of your pages on the padlet
