Father Love

Upon watching the movie, I was reminded of how my father loved me deeply. Just
like John, I could remember how my father cared for me that he would do things
that normal people do not do. He once told me that since I could not sleep, he would
take me to our car and take me for a ride for I was able to sleep with the car
moving. I was able to reminisce how a fathers love would push him to do things he
do not normally do just for his childrens safety.
As the movie went on, I found myself crying at some scenes. It was devastating for
a parent to know that their child would not last months, weeks if not days and in
that scene, I remembered how my parents reacted when they knew of my older
brother passing away. It was harder for them because during that time, they were
overseas and the only way they found out was through a phone call. It was then
that I could see why my father tries to discipline us in every way possible. That it
will be for our own safety.
Fathers have a gentle way of talking to their children, unlike mothers. They talk in a
soft voice that would definitely touch your heart and in the scene wherein John was
saying his last words to Mike reminded me of my father. He always had this way of
talking to us that would touch our hearts and actually think of the consequences of
our actions. Although some men are not really vocal with how they feel for their
child, their actions speak differently. They do everything in order to give what we
want and what we need.
This movie greatly touched my heart for it made me treasure the love that my
father is giving to me. Being the only child that is on college, I know that he is
working just to pay not only their bills but my bills as well. And I am very thankful
for that. I am thankful to have him as my father and I am proud to be her daughter.

Below are my evaluations of the characters in the movie.

Character
John Quincy Archibald

Ethical System
Situationalism

Dr. Turner

Situationalism

Rebecca Payne

Stoicism

Tuck Lampley

Hedonism

Part of Movie
He was forced to do
something out of the
ordinary because of the
situation; which in his
case his son being very
sick. He did not touch nor
harm any of the patients
that were stuck with him
in the hospital for all that
he wanted was to give his
son a chance to be on the
donors list.
Being the physician of
Mike Archibald (Johns
son), he only acted upon
the external elements. In
this case, he turned down
the operation of the child
because it was the
decision of the higher
boards. Along the movie,
he only acted when the
gun was aimed at him;
going with the situation
just to get himself free
from death.
Payne, the Administrator
of the hospital, portrayed
a stoic character. People
get sick, they die. Thats
why way it goes, were
her words when
confronted by the police
men as to why she
declined the operation for
Johns son.
This character is a news
anchor whom throughout
the movie only did things
for his pleasure, in his

case to be a famous
reporter. He went into the
scene and had his men
hack into the systems of
the police department
solely to have people
watch his news channel.
Lt. Grimes was only there
because of his work.
Everything that he did in
the movie were related to
his work. This clearly
shows that he only had to
be there because of his
job.
Chief Monroe portrayed
both Power Ethics and
Hedonism. The most
dominant trait however
that I have seen in him
was how he used his
power to take over Lt.
Grimes case. He did so to
get his image clean in the
public which could lead to
Hedonism.
This man tried to harm
John in order to save his
own life. He was doing all
his actions just to get the
pleasure of living his rich
life.
The nurse, throughout the
film, portrayed a
character who did not like
the system of the
hospital. He did not like
how the patients were
rejected just because
they did not have enough
money to pay for the
operation. Despite that,
he still chose to stay and
work in the hospital which
shows a character falling
under Deontology.
Lester was a character

who tried to persuade

John to just accept things
through the acts of God.
In this way, he was able
to show a characteristic
that falls to Natural law.
