make up the Earths ecosystem.
Understand the role of the Sun as the source of all life on Earth.
Recognize the main natural environmental hazards, as well as some of historys most
important natural disasters.

Recognize the main human-caused environmental hazards, as well as some of

historys most important technological disasters.
Understand the environmental problems caused by climate change.
Analyse the causes and consequences of climate change.

Be aware of the finite nature of natural resources, as well as the necessity of using
renewable resources whenever possible.

CONTENTS

Ecosystems. The Earths ecosystem. The Sun.

Natual hazards. Hurricanes and floods. Earthquakes and volcanoes.

Hazards caused by human activity. Technological hazards and environmental pollution.

An environmental problem: Climate change.

The exploitation of natural resources. Renewable and non-renewable resources.

Sustainable development.
Description of a marine ecosystem.
Write a text about environmental conservation.

Conduct online research about environmental problems.

Describe photographs of environmental degradation.
Locate areas at the greatest risk of natural disasters.
Debate about the exploitation of natural resources.
Analyse and interpret statistics about primary energy consumption.
Explain concepts related to the environment.

Analyse and interpret drawings and diagrams of ecosystems and the environmental
problems found in them.

EVALUATION
CRITERIA

Check that they are able to explain why the Earth is an ecosystem.

See whether they recognize the relationship between the Sun and the other elements
of the Earths ecosystem.

Observe whether they know the main natural and human-caused hazards on planet
Earth.
See if they can define the main concepts related to climate change.

Make sure they are aware of the finite nature of natural resources and our
responsibility to act accordingly.

Check they can explain concepts related to the environment, such as that of
sustainable development.

Verify they understand the key problems related to the Earths environmental
resources.
