Vehicle Inspection

Job details: To start off this inspection I brought the car into the garage. I checked the operation of each
seat belt and the dashboard illumination, ABS, airbag light etc, and horn, heater blowers as well as the
windscreen wiper/washer operation. Next I had a visual inspection of the bodywork for sharp edges or rust. I
then went on to under the bonnet checks to check the coolant hoses for leaks, the condition of the battery
and terminals. The power steering level, washer bottle level and oil level on the dipstick were also checked.
All levels were okay. Each five tyres were checked for pressure. I went onto auto data to check the
recommended pressures and pumped the two fronts up to the legal pressures. Now I went onto the brake
rollers/tester and all sides locked out with readings of 123,136, front and 100,110, rear. The hand brake did
not lock out on either side but had a high enough readings of 130 and 122. the car was drove on the pit
where I jacked up the car, took all wheels off one by one and checked the disks for wear and the brake pads
for wear also. I checked the brake pipes for leaks or excessive rust. I put the wheels back on and torqued
them to 90nm. I then barred the wheels and checked the bushes for wear or or play in the bearings and
joints. Next I went underneath the car and inspected under the engine and gearbox for any oil leaks to seals,
and the gaiters that could possibly be perished or split. I checked the under-body condition which had slight
corrosion in places. Then exhaust for corrosion. The last thing I inspected was the headlights. Firstly the
sidelights, then dipped beam and main to see if all was in working order. I checked the headlight alignment,
and the offside was out of the markings so I wrote that down on my sheet. The last thing I done was check
the emissions. Putting the car through the test and the car passed it.
