Opening Government

Motion: This house supports the changes in the academic calendar.

I.

Expected Argument

For public schools, that dont have air conditioning services, students may not able to withstand the
heat thus distracting them from their studies.
II.

Counter Argument

As we resume our classes on the rainy seasons, students will experience heat rather than heavy flood,
which can cause more inconveniences.
III.

Explanation

Typhoons, heavy rainfall and at cases, floods usually occur on the months June, July and August (and
maybe onwards). Great rainstorms can cause destruction of homes, food shortage and suspension of
classes. Its important for a student to get his or her education in order to reach his or her goal of being
successful in the future and simply just surviving in life because being knowledgeable is important to get
to many benefits. Now, if school starts in the month of June, there will surely be a number of days where
classes are suspended. This is also a disadvantage because our parents paid a very expensive tuition fee
just for their children to get the education they deserve and yet, a lot of days will be missed by the
students because of the weather. Floods may cause the destruction of schools. In that case, children may
fall behind in their studies. As a result, students may drop out in their primary or high school years, and
less likely to opt for a college degree. Children out of school face social, economic and emotional issues
because again, in school, we are taught the right things in life. Due to the weather condition, their health
may deteriorate and no education will result in change of emotional behavior and no employment.
IV.

Example

Evidence to what has been said earlier is that in Pakistan, floods greatly affected everyone, especially
the students. The floods affected the childrens emotional, intellectual and physical development and
consequently, may cause the whole nation to fall. The floods have destroyed many areas. Failure to
immediately repair these areas will worsen the childrens issues due to such calamity. Children are
Pakistans future generation. They have tolerated many of the consequences these disasters cost them
and greater poverty due to these floods could worsen their educational privilege. As said, at severe cases,
floods may cause students to have no education and that may also affect their future. Their possibilities of
getting engaged are very little and unemployment weakens the peoples reasoning of welfare, premier to
an increasing rate of despondency and smaller grades of life satisfaction. Most of those who are jobless
experience an enduring reduction in their wages, and that are even more common for the long-term
jobless. Long-term unemployment is also dangerous for the economy as an entire. One quarter of the
long-term jobless permanently depart the workforce, a latest study by the Congressional Budget Office
discovered, making increased loss of yield in the economy. Long-term job loss burdens communal
services, weakens spending levels in the economy and drains overall savings.
