The most widely used metal of choice in Product Design is sheet steel as steel is by far the most
abundantly available material of construction. From view points of aesthetic appeal, strength, function of
crumple zone, paintability, platability, maintainability, repairability, durability, recyclability and cost, we
cannot beat sheet metal. That is the reason why sheet metal is still the material used for the shell of
automobiles. The sheet lends itself for manipulation to desired shapes and sizes by pressing processes.
Keeping this in view, Indian Machine Tool Manufacturers' Assoication (IMTMA) is organising two day
workshop on Design and processing of sheet metal parts on 11 - 12 July 2013 at Bangalore. Will enable
the participants to gain an insight into the design aspects of sheet metal parts and its processing.
