I am thankful:

And not out with someone else.
at least two days off per week. During his first semester he
had Wednesdays and Fridays off. The flexibility in his schedule
allowed him to fly to Columbus, Ohio after his class on Thursday
evenings and to return late Monday afternoon, in time for his
class. Had Patrick landed any of the other jobs for which he
applied, he would not have had this flexibility.
By the time we moved into our new home, housing prices
dove sharply. Had we purchased when I originally desired,
we would have paid a significantly higher price. Besides, the
location of our current home is closer to both of our jobs,
which means less time on the road. God’s time is Divine time!
It takes patience to wait on God. As you wait, various feelings
may emerge. By writing what you are feeling and thinking down
in a journal, you can obtain clarity about what thoughts you
need to think in order to stay in alignment with your desire.
One of the quickest and easiest ways to cultivate inner
joy is to keep a gratitude journal. By maintaining a gratitude
journal, you have a selection of material from which to read
during the times when you need it most. Because we can
think only one thought at a time, gratitude focuses the mind
on positive thoughts. If you are in the midst of inwardly or
outwardly expressing appreciation, you cannot simultaneously
long for what you don’t have. Yearning breeds a sense of lack
and a sense of lack feeds feelings of deficiency. In essence, you
are saying to the universe, “I don’t have enough!”
Several years ago, my mother, sister, and I sat in the den
of my parent’s home and conducted our SAVY Sister Circle
meeting. SAVY is an acronym for Study Abroad Voyages for
Youth. We founded SAVY to raise money to support youth who
travel to the African Diaspora. Although the organization has
been on hiatus for several years and I moved from Milwaukee,
we still call our once- a-week prayer meeting our SAVY Sister
Circle to ensure that we talk weekly.
During this meeting, I was feeling despondent and frustrated
because I felt confused about what I wanted to do with my life.
I was in my mid-twenties, jobless, and unsure of my direction.
