lntroducton
L.'1.1 Purpose
This Annex provides guidance to Purchasers (owners, engineerirE contractors, and other desgnated agents) and
Mandacturers (fabricators and erectors) for the preparaton and completon the Atmospheric Storage Tank Data
Sheet (hereafter refered to as the Data Sheet). The Data Sheet shall be prepared in conjunction with hs standard
such that comprehensive proposals (bids) may be made and subsequent conacts may be placed for lhe fabricaon
and erection oftanks.

Scope
This Annex explains information to be placed on the Data Sheet primarily by Purchasers for use by Manufacurers.
However, some of the instructons apply to eier the Purchaser or the Manufacuirer, depending on which party
assumes certain responsibilities.

Shell-to-Bottom Weld Examination Method': Choose among the options lsted n accordance wth 7.2.4.

COMMENT
Ppe-type roof columns are preferred for internal floatng roof tanks. ln many cases the openngs are
NPT threaded couplngs that allow e user to plug the openngs when the tank is n servce, to mnimize conosion
of the supports and reduce emisson from the tank. The openings are needed to allow the free dranage and cleanng
of the columns when the tank is orlt of servce.

ASME 816.47 flanges are not avalable in all sizes, materals, and flange types (see S.7.6.1).
COMMENT
Lapjoint nozzle flanges should be avoided in connections where the combined stresses (such as
bendng, cyclic, and seismic) in e nozzle where atiached to the lap jont stub-end exceed the API 650 basc
allowable stress at the rnaximum desgn temperature. Lapjoint nozzle flanges shanld also be avoded in connectons
with vibration or when susceptible to envronmental stress cofiosion cracking.
Nozzle projeclions shall be measured from the outside of the shell to the face of the shell flange (FF) and from daum
line to the face of the flange for roof and floor openings, unless otherwise specified. Shell opening elevations shall be
from the datum lne to the centerline of the opening, unless otherwse specified. Roof opening locations shall be
measured radially from the centerlne of the tank. Specify datum line and elevatons with orientaons on the "Tank
Plans and Sketch" of the Data Sheet.
For fabrcated flanges requiring ASME Boiler and Pressure Vesset Code, Secton Vlll, Division 1, UG-34 and Annex 2
calculations, place the "m' and "y" values for the gasket n the "Remarks" secton of the Data Sheet, Line 23. Clearly
indicate to which gaske6 these values apply.
