The History of Java, was first published in England in 1817 in two volumes. In general,
the book has been translated in the Indonesian language as thick as 904 pages by
publisher of Narasi Yogyakarta in 2008 it contained among other demographic situation,
information on Java native, agricultural state, and religious beliefs, language, and some
other interesting things. In the context of Indonesia Java International
Destination as the title of this article, Raffles has been promoting tourism objects on
the exotic island of Java more than a century ago on the European continent and the
World.
We’ll be amazed by the complete narrative of Thomas Stamford Raffles, the book The
History of Java – which is also known as the founder of the city and the city-state of
Singapore, when he describes in detail the archaeological sites or ruins of Hindu and
Buddhist temples in Central Java and East Java.
Raffles is very good, for example, when he describes the Loro Jonggrang Prambanan
Temple in Central Java at that time, “After visiting the place again, I am becoming
increasingly clear that Loro Jonggrang temple basically consists of twenty separate
buildings, in addition to the buried and lost. All of the six major temples and two small
temples with a second lining, and two dozen other small temples which corresponds each
to one another, a rectangular shape with the inside of exterior walls. … In my life, I never
met a man who works amazing and completed, with the knowledge and sense of long-
forgotten era, dropped together in a small clue in a small point …. “
No doubt, Raffles in a brief stint in Java through the book The History of Java have been
introduced to the European public about everything concerning Java and its cultural
diversity. In the context of this writing, he has succeeded in promoting archaeological
sites in the form of exotic temples, Hindu and Buddhist who we now know as the object
of tourism on the island of Java, Indonesia. And do not forget, the real work of Raffles at
the time he was also helped spearhead the restoration of historic archaeological sites.

“My dedication is to show the public, emphasizing the form of time that I use, and without
distortion of the opinions previously made or of a new theory of the information I have.
Relics in Java, however, provides an opportunity to estimate a subject with a more
expansive and interesting. I had to leave the decision to the readers of the opinion that
several opinions related to the origin and purpose made ancient relics that, “said Raffles.
However, in my opinion, the source of a broader and more impressive for Java can be
found in the private community. One important thing that underlies the attitude of
community life is obedience to the Javanese tradition. Tradition is at herself reflected in
the Java community will love the peace, the warmth of family, environmental harmony,
social harmony, and respect for ancestors.
