Plan Purpose and Description

The purpose of the project is to integrate the new 2015-2016 New State Standards for
Mathematics and Problem-based Learning project evaluation into classroom mathematics
instruction using the integration of technology. The objective is to assess the success of how
well the teachers incorporate the New State Standards for Mathematics and Problem-based
Learning through available instructional technologies. This project will also assess how well the
teachers create and utilize authentic mathematics modules that incorporate authentic learning
experiences through the local Braxton County businesses and industries.
The plan includes the following components: a list of data elements to gather, suggested
data gathering instruments, and recommendations for how to gather and analyze data.
The 2015-2016 New State Standards for Mathematics and Problem-based Learning
evaluation plan is designed to answer four central questions:
1. Were the initial experience and follow up activities implemented as planned?
2. What is the quality of the initial program activities?
3. Who are the program participants and how were they recruited?
4. What is the quality of follow up and support activities?
Objectives

Objective 1: By January 2016, 85% of certified staff will be able to create PBL Modules

based on real experiences in local businesses and industries.

Objective 2: By January 2016, 85% of certified staff will be able to create PBL Modules

addressing NSSM.
Objective 3: By January 2016, 85% of certified staff will integrate technology into PBL

experiences.
Objective 4: By January 2016, 85% of certified staff will implement and evaluate PBL
Modules.

Implementation Plan
The plan is designed to use multiple measures, multiple data sources, and both
quantitative and qualitative data to answer each of the central questions. This approach will
improve the validity of evaluation results and ensure that the evaluation is not overly reliant on a
single data source.
