Beef up

your list
Roanokers are passionate about their
burgers.
We were reminded of that
after we published a guest post
from Clifton Forge native and
food lover Jeff Fitzgerald on our
blog, roanoke.com/featuredFRIDGE
MAGNET
dish.
Sheri Poore
In his post, Meat Roanoke,
sheri.poore
@roanoke.com
Fitzgerald told about some of his
favorite burger spots but his list did not
cut the mustard with readers. They gave
Fitzgerald a grilling with their comments
on the blog and on Facebook, demand-

ing that he substantially beef up his list of

favorite burger joints.
They accused him of making cheesy
choices but we get the impression that
Fitzgerald relishes getting himself in a
pickle. Anyway, we decided to compile a
burger checklist based on reader comments. Lettuce help you find your favorite.
Cut out the list, post it on the fridge and
check off the spots as you try them. The list
is not limited to Roanoke; we received a
few suggestions from other parts of Southwest Virginia. And hot diggity some
folks choose burgers over dogs at their

local wiener stands.

Large, nationally well-known chains
are not on the list because you already
know where they are and you have your
favorites.
We are sure to have missed some, but
dont rake us over the coals. We left blank
spaces for you to write in the ones we
missed.
Leave your comments on the blog, tell
us about your experiences and give other
readers a chance to ketchup on their faves
as well. Well follow up on the blog with
other worthy nominees.

The best hamburger in Roanoke is at

Ill still contend that the best burgers in

the city can be found at Burger in the

and with a good variety ... these are the
dont-miss burgers if youre visiting.
