During the presentation of the analysis results
(http://www.sifaplus.eu/en/ethics/presentations/item/297-firstethicsquestionnaire ), a
significant difference was found between the expected and the counted values of the
answers of students from different countries in question 1.1 about Plagiarism. The question
was:
1.1 What do you think that Plagiarism means?
I have never heard of it
You copy someone elses work entirely but call it your own
You use someone elses work but change it in many ways to fit your own purpose
You create something but make it look like it was made by someone else
Firstly try to value the answers according to your knowledge, by giving 0 the the worst and 3
to the best answer. Discuss the matter as a team, if needed ask for help from your teachers,
try to justify your choice. (15 mins approx.).
The best answers were given by students from Poland and Sweden, average answers were
given by students from Norway and Greece and less right answers from students from
Austria (X2 =34.602, df=4, p=.000). In fact, the average score was 0,712, for Poland and
Sweden 0,879, for Norway 0,739, for Greece 0,615 and for Austria 0,535.
Discuss the matter as a team, if needed with the help of your teachers and try to figure out if
you can find reasons for this difference. For example it could be related to culture
differences, or information policy of the country of the school, for example special activities
that took place in some schools/countries, or incidents that happened in the region, or some
other. (25 mins approx.).
