NUTRITIOUS FOOD

1. What is nutritious food?

Nutrition is the process in which you consume food
or nourishing liquids, digest and absorb them and
use them for health and growth. Also, Nutrition can
be defined as a three-part process i.e.
consumption, digestion and circulation of the food.
The origin of the word nutrition is linked to the

Latin words nutritionem and nutrire, meaning a

nourishing or to nourish, suckle. Food is made
up of any substance, composed of carbohydrates,
water, proteins, and fats either eaten or drunk by
any animal, including humans to give energy or
help build up the body for growth.

3. The importance of eating nutritious food

Food nutrition is a key element in maintaining our
overall physical well-being. We must always pay attention
to the foods that we eat because they will eventually
impact our health, for better or for worst. We have more
information available about the benefits of every
particular food group than weve ever had before, which is
why we also have a bigger responsibility than ever before
to make assertive and responsible food choices.
Carbohydrates, fats and proteins have each got a specific
function to serve in our bodies. The key to good health lies
in maintaining balanced food nutrition. Our body
transforms carbohydrates to sugar that give in the
necessary energy to perform daily activities such as work,
study, or exercise. Carbohydrates can be found in fruits,
and in whole grain bread, pasta, and rice. Proteins are the
main components of the muscles of our body. Foods that
provide protein include red meat, white meat, nuts, and
dairy products. Doctors recommend eating more white
meat such as fish and chicken than red meat.
We must take care of our health, we must seek to
achieve and maintain a strong, flexible and vital physique.
I cannot emphasize enough the positive benefits that food
nutrition and regular exercise have upon our emotional
and physical well-being. Adults should teach children

healthy eating habits because when you learn something

from a small age it becomes
A custom and you are more likely to follow this custom for
the rest of your life.

4. Negative effects of not eating nutritious

food
A diet that leans more heavily toward
unhealthy foods will carry too many calories
from fat and sugar and not enough beneficial
nutrients. While you can live for a long time
on such a diet, it will have short-term and
long-term effects on your health. Weight
problems, dental problems and chronic
diseases become more likely when you
choose energy-dense foods, or those with
higher calories than nutrition, over nutrientdense foods, or those with fewer calories and
more vitamins, minerals and other beneficial
nutrients.

Healthy eating habbits

1. Ways to practice it
1. Schedule three meals a day into your routine.
It's important to be nourished adequately
throughout the day to prevent fatigue and to
perform at an optimal level.
2. Eat a healthy breakfast. Include grains and
fruits. Try a high-fibre cereal with low fat milk
and sliced bananas.
3. Eating small frequent meals can be less taxing
on your digestive system.
4. Snack between meals to curb your appetite
and provide a little energy. Try a piece of fruit
or a few crackers with peanut butter.
5. Do not let you become so hungry as to overeat

at mealtime. Overeating burdens your

digestive system.
6. Drinking water or having a small bowl of soup
before meals may keep you from overeating at
your meal.
7. Eat slowly and chew your food thoroughly to
aid in your digestion. Take time to savor your
food.
8. Obtain protein from a less complicated source,
such as nuts, legumes, grains and sprouts.
9. Choose low fat dairy products lean white
meats or wild fish if animal products are
desired.
10.
Combine vegetables and grains with a
small amount of protein for a synergistic
effect.

2. Eating manner, which suits the sensitivity

in belief and religion (relate to conditions in
Malaysia thats has a multiracial society)
Dining etiquette for discussing business. Business
entertaining is a must. Put effort into establishing a
personal relationship.
Dining etiquette for using your hands. The left hand is
considered taboo; it should not be used for eating or
handling food in any way or form .If you are hosting a
meal, remember that your Muslim guests should not be
offered either pork or alcohol. Similarly, Hindus and Sikhs
should not be served beef, because cows are considered
sacred in those religions.
Dining etiquette for utensils. Malaysia is composed of a
number of different ethnic groups, so utensil etiquette
varies. Individuals of Malaysian and Indian descent may
choose to use the fork as the scooper (using the left hand)
and the spoon as the utensil that takes the food to the
mouth (using the right hand). Some may use their hands

(the right one only) to take food to their mouths. Follow

the person with whom you are dining .If you are dining
with an individual of Chinese descent, that person will
probably use chopsticks as the eating utensil, while a
spoon may also be used for soup. Once again, you should
follow suit.
Dining etiquette for seating. The host should dictate
seating or the highest Malaysian officer in attendance .The
host should be seated to the immediate left of the most
senior guest. This guest should be given the best seat at
the table, which is usually the farthest from the door.
Dining etiquette for tipping. Tipping is not the custom in
Malaysia, because service charges are included in most
services.

3. Plan a balance menu for one day

Monday
(Breakfast)
Nasi Lemak
Orange Juice
(Lunch)

Mixed Vegetables

(Dinner)

The importance of distributing

food to the underprivileged and
ways to carry it out
To give a chance in life by nourishing the
underprivileged bodies and minds. To give them a
chance at something better in life To help
underprivileged survive Examples: The food
packages contain all food essentials to ensure that
the deserving ones are able to celebrate the Holy
Festival with their families. Examples: To help the
less fortunate segments of the society as well as
bringing together the members of community from
all walks of life to heart il yen joy the festivity and
blessings of the Holy month of Ramadan.
Examples: Etihad Airways, the national airline of
the United Arab Emirates, has organized a
substantial blanket distribution drives to help
underprivileged children survive the harsh winter
season in New Delhi.
One way of helping is to join organization to
help give out free food to the underprivileged and
we can also sponsor food to any local
orphanages .
