The film is produced by the same institutions that made other films that belong
to the horror/supernatural genre; therefore we can presume that the film will
depict similar connections as well as the aspects on the poster. Stating popular
movies that have had the same directors producing it attracts individuals to
watch the film due to the fact that it will cause them to believe that the film will
be as good as the ones stated on the poster.
The font in the title is bold
and particularly creepy and
also plays on the title
sinister which already
creates a supernatural
impression due to the word
sinister meaning that
something bad will
commence. The fact that it
is bold and in capital letters
creates the sense of danger.
Furthermore, the dark colour
used for the title font
contrasts with the bright
background, causing it to
stand out.
The tagline significantly links
with the image below linking
it all together. It also gives
the audience slight
information about what will
occur in the film. This hooks
the audience in as they
desire to see more due to
the information being very
limited.
The main attraction on the poster is this blood image, which is horrific and disturbing. The fact that the image is
drawn in blood lives is typical of the horror genre stereotype due to the sense of gory and death. This image
includes a pair of demonic eyes. This then relates with the tagline one you see him, nothing can save you, creating
fear and strike of alarm for the audience. The fact that these eyes look straight towards the camera, and therefore
straight into the audiences eyes, emphasises this feel of suspense and terror, almost as if the demon in the film
will be coming after us due to this eye contact made. The director would have purposely done this to include the
audience and forming this attraction to the film poster. Furthermore, the fact that there are snakes under the
demonic drawing, emphasises the horror due to snakes being associated with demonic symbols and are a common
fear for humans. This all seems appealing to the male gender stereotypically being more tough and less scared than
females.
