Innovative Neurodiagnostic Instruments

John Cadwell, BSEE, MD designed the first microprocessor controlled EMG instrument. In
1979 he and his brother Carl, DDS, formed Cadwell Laboratories, Inc. and began selling their
device. Since then, Cadwell has been a leader in the development and manufacturing of
innovative and reliable instruments for neurophysiology. Many of these instruments have
been providing decades of service to their owners.
Numerous patents are held by Cadwell, including those for magnetic stimulators, cable
shielding designs, neural network analysis of EEG and database designs. Today, still located
in Kennewick, Washington, John and Carl continue ownership of the company and come to
work everyday to develop and market products ranging from EMG to EEG to PSG to IONM
instrumentation and more. Cadwell has a firm hold of its identity and a dedicated focus on
neurophysiology.

Ideal for injecting Botulinum Toxin or other medications, these needles are made of
stainless steel with a super smooth PTFE coating and a back-cut, beveled tip, reducing
friction at the point of insertion. Pre-attached lead wire is 24 (60 cm) long and has a
touch-proof connector. The Luer-Lock fitting provides a secure syringe connection.

Technomed Disposable Injectable Needle Electrodes

The Technomed Aiglette Injectable disposable needle was designed for
simultaneous Botulinum Toxin (or other medicine) injection and EMG recording
or electrical stimulation. Made of medical grade stainless steel and sharpened
with micro-precision to a facet bevel the needle can withstand multiple
insertions without character degradation. The needle has a leak-free, secure
slip-tip and Luer lock syringe connection and an ultra smooth coating for
minimal patient discomfort. Comes with a pre-attached 75cm (30) color coded
lead wire that has a safety DIN 42 802 connector. Pre-sterilized by ETO gas.

for easy penetration. The twisted lead wires reduce noise and impedance levels

Patch Electrodes with Snap Connectors
Two styles of disposable patch electrode with snap
connectors are available. The one inch square patch
uses a specially formulated adhesive solid gel. Ideal
for PSG studies where leg movement or ECG data
is desired. The oblong wet gel patch has an offset
snap that fits well around the eyes and on the chin.
White lead wires are available with black or red
connectors. Available in 60 or 120 lead length. Color
coded leads are available in sets of 11 or 4 and designed
for use with the BraiNet electrode template system and

Patch Electrodes with Snap Connectors
Two styles of disposable patch electrode with snap

Sterilization
Electrode preparation and application should be

supervised by a qualified healthcare professional.
Consult AAMI Standards and Recommended

Practices for Sterilization, Volume 1: Good Hospital
Practices and Volume 2: Hospital Equipment and
Industrial Process Control, or equivalent for detailed
sterilization instructions. These texts may be ordered
by calling AAMI at 1-800-332-2264, ext 217.
Inspect electrodes for excessive wear or damage

prior to use. If electrode wire, termination, or surface
area is worn, discard the electrode.
Cadwell is not liable for injury, infection, or other
damage resulting from improper storage, preparation, use or disposal of electrodes.
Disposable Needle Electrodes. Needle electrodes
are pre-sterilized. Inspect packaging before use.
Electrodes remain sterile as long as the seal or
pouch is not opened or damaged. Use electrode
prior to the expiration date. Single patient use
only. Do not reuse. Discard in a puncture-resistant
sharps container following approved procedures
for disposal of medical sharps.
Cleaning and Disinfecting

Reusable Surface Electrodes. Wash in mild detergent-and-water solution. Use soft, clean brush to
remove gels, pastes, and other buildup. After washing, immerse electrodes in a 2% glutaraldehyde
solution (e.g., Envirocide electrode cleaner) or
other non-corrosive disinfecting agent. (Refer to the
chemical manufacturers instructions for appropriate use and disposal information.) Rinse electrode
thoroughly before sterilizing. For maximum life, do
not expose electrodes to prolonged soaking or to
cleaning with corrosive agents or bleach.

Reusable Needle Electrodes, Surface Electrodes,

Lead Wires, Bars with Felt Pads and Electrical
Stimulator Probes. Sterilize using Ethylene Oxide
gas (ETO) or steam autoclave. Remove electrical
stimulator probes and felt-pads before sterilizing.
ETO. For detailed information, refer to the instructions provided by the sterilization equipment
manufacturer.
Autoclaving. Steam autoclave at 120C (250F)

and 103 kPa (15 psi) for 15 minutes. For detailed
information, refer to the instructions provided by
the autoclave manufacturer.
Felt-Pads. Felt pads are single patient use, nonsterile devices. Do not reuse.
