Our tithing recipient for September is Resolve of Greater Rochester, and our
donation will fund awareness and prevention education for young people and
adults.
Resolve of Greater Rochester began as two separate organizations, Safe
Journey, and Stand Up Guys. Both organizations make a greater difference in
the fight to end violence against women. Safe Journey approaches the problem
from an intervention perspective while Stand Up Guys starts from a prevention
perspective, engaging men in conversations about the violence done to women, by men. The two organizations merged in 2012.
If you are interested in volunteering or donating to Resolve, please visit
www. resolve-roc.org/Donate.html. Resolve is a 501c3 nonprofit organization,
funded completely from private donations.

BAPTISM PREPARATION
Are You Expecting?
I urge Grades K - 5 parents to send their children into the Liturgy of the Word during 9am or 10:30am Sunday Mass.
While adults listen to the Scriptures and Homily, the children will listen and discuss the very same Mass Readings, but at their own
intellectual and spiritual level. Doing this is far better for their faith development than remaining in the Church during that time.
Grades K-1 (Gorman Room) and Grades 2-5 (Gathering Room). Each have their own lessons designed for that age level.
They learn about the Bible, Jesus, the Mass and their own early beliefs about our Christian God as a Holy Trinity of Persons.
Worshipping at Mass with their family, combined with having spiritual lessons with their peers, provides the best overall
experience for a childs growing faith. Please involve your children in their own Liturgy of the Word at the 9:00 AM or
10:30 AM Sunday Mass. You are welcome to sitin & watch. In fact, I invite you to become one of our Leaders this year!
Blessings, Ms. Barbara Hesenius, Pastoral Associate
Next weekend Religious Education Classes begin. I want to take this opportunity to welcome all of our families that will be involved
in our program this year. There is still time to register if you have not done so.
Our goal this year is to keep everyone informed of what is happening within the program. Parents are welcomed to join
your children in the classroom at anytime.
My weekly article will be one of the tools I used to keep the entire parish aware of what is happening in the classrooms.
Along with the new year we are also introducing new text book. This series is call "Finding God" and is published by Loyola Press. We are to live our faith in our homes, at school, in our jobs and in the community. "Finding God" invites our youth and
their families into a relationship with God in our families, parish and with our neighbors.
"Finding God" is an integrated curriculum that spirals through the grades. The curriculum is as follows: Grade 1: God
Found Everything Good-God and Creator; Grade 2: I am the True Vine - Eucharist & Reconciliation; Grade 3: Fishers of Men Church & Holy Spirit; Grade 4: Blessed Are the Poor - Beatitudes & Ten Commandments; Grade 5: The Bread of Life - Sacraments
& Worship; Grade 6: I Am Who Am - The Old Testament and Grade 7: This is My Beloved Son - Jesus Christ.
Parents and parishioners, we can use your help. We are in need of teachers, as well as assistant teachers. Is there any part of
the curriculum that interest you? What a beautiful way to show your children how to live out God's request that we become his disciples and spread the Good News. If you think your children aren't watching what you do, think again. Your children do watch you
and do as you do, not necessarily what you say.
When You Thought I Wasn't Looking
When you thought I wasn't looking I saw you hang my first painting on the refrigerator, & I immediately wanted to paint another.
When you thought I wasn't looking I saw you feed a stray cat, and I learned that i t was good to be kind to animals.
When you thought I wasn't looking I saw you make my favorite cake for me, and I learned that the little things can be the special things in life.
When you thought I wasn't looking I heard you say a prayer, and I knew that there is a God I could always talk to and I learned to trust in Him.
When you thought I wasn't looking I saw you make a meal and take it to a friend who was sick, and I learned that we all have to help take care
of each other.
When you thought I wasn't looking I saw you take care of our house and everyone in it, & I learned we have to take care of what we are given.
When you thought I wasn't looking I saw how you handled your responsibilities, even when you didn't feel good, and I learned that I would
have to be responsible when I grow up.
When you thought I wasn't looking I saw tears come from your eyes, and I learned that sometimes things hurt, but it's all right to cry.
When you thought that I wasn't looking I saw that you cared, and I wanted to be everything that I could be.
When you thought I wasn't looking I learned most of life's lessons that I need to know to be a good and productive person when I grow up.
When you thought I wasn't looking I looked at you and wanted to say,' Thanks for all the things I saw when you thought I wasn't looking.'
