N.B. Training programmes mentioned at S. No. (2) and (5) under Disha Programme
for Women in Science are being co-ordinated by KIRAN Division of DST in
collaboration with Indo-US Science & Technology Forum and COACh International,
USA.

C. TARGET PARTICIPANTS
(1)
One week & two weeks training programme
Target under the Scheme are Scientists/ technologists holding scientific posts /
working in Scientific Ministries/ Departments of Govt. of India and State
Governments, Autonomous Institutions/ Public Sector Undertakings of Central /
State Governments, Research and Development Institutions/ Research Laboratories
of Central / State Governments, Central / State Universities, State Science &
Technology Councils
For the purposes of training under the scheme, Scientists have been classified
into three groups as stated below:
Junior 0-9 years of service in Group A
Scientists
B,
C
and
equivalent
Middle 9-21 years of services in Group A Scientists D, E, F and
equivalent
Senior 21 years and above service in Scientists G & above and
Group A
equivalent

Advanced Techno-Management Programme for Senior and Middle Level
Scientists
The target group of this programme will be Scientists & Technologists at the
senior and middle level working in Central Govt. Ministries/Departments and
Research Institutions/Organisations under Central Government.
(3)

Foundation Training Programme

This programme is meant for new recruits at the level of Scientists B.


Scientists at level C may also be included amongst the target group of the course.
The Scientists & Technologists having service more than 9 years in Group A
should not be selected. The Scientists working in State Sector and Central/State
Universities are also not eligible for the course.
(4)

Exposure visit abroad of Scientists/Technologists

Scientists/Technologists who successfully complete 12-week foundational


Training Programme for junior level/ 5-week Advanced Techno-Management
Programme for senior level & Middle level are eligible for 1-week exposure visit to
an advanced country.
D.

FEE/ SPONSORSHIP

All the training programmes are residential programmes and all expenditure
on the training programmes will be met by the Department of Science and
Technology, Govt. of India except the expenditure on to and fro journey from the

place of duty to the concerned Training Institute and TA/DA etc., if any, which are to
be borne by the sponsoring organizations.
E. HOW TO APPLY
Scientists and Technologists interested for particular training programme may
apply in the prescribed proforma duly recommended by the Controlling Officer of
the Department/ Organisation at least one month before the commencement of the
programme directly to the Training Institute with a copy endorsed to Under
Secretary (Training) Department of Science & Technology, Technology Bhawan,
New Mehrauli Road, New Delhi 110016.
